A Dynamic Public Space for Cultural and Commercial Activities

TANKO Park itself is a pioneering concept in urban public spaces, designed to accommodate a wide range of cultural, recreational, and commercial activities. The park serves as a hub for the community, fostering interaction and engagement through its unique infrastructure. Nestled within this innovative environment, Constellation Tower enhances the park’s identity by providing a scenic viewpoint and a gathering space for visitors.

Architectural Concept: A Spiral of Interaction

Positioned within a circular infinity pool, which acts as a key water source for the park, Constellation Tower boasts a spiraling form composed of five circular platforms. Each platform gradually decreases in size as it ascends, creating a staggered, rotating effect. These platforms are designed to optimize sightlines, allowing visitors to enjoy diagonal views of both the park and its surrounding environment. The interactive design enables visitors to engage with each other from various levels, fostering a sense of community within the structure.

Structural Innovation: A Harmony of Aesthetics and Engineering

The tower’s structural system is based on a round steel tube support frame, ensuring stability and efficiency. While the central staircase column remains vertical, the surrounding circular platforms are supported by inclined diagonal columns. These diagonal braces serve a dual purpose: they not only resist gravity but also provide lateral stability against wind and seismic forces. Unlike traditional frame structures that rely on bending stiffness, this design utilizes axial stiffness, allowing for a more efficient load distribution while minimizing material usage.

The homogeneous aesthetic of the tower is achieved through the uniform application of white-painted round steel tubes in the handrails, staircases, and structural elements. This cohesive visual language enhances the tower’s sleek and modern appearance.

A Celestial Experience: Light, Shadow, and Weather Interplay

True to its name, Constellation Tower embodies the concept of a three-dimensional celestial formation, where floating discs appear suspended in space. Each platform features perforated surfaces, allowing sunlight and rain to filter through, creating dynamic lighting effects that change with the weather. At night, the tower transforms into an illuminated beacon, as ring-shaped LED light strips embedded within each platform emit an ethereal glow. The lighting system is adaptable, enabling the display of different colors and effects based on various events and occasions.

A Cultural Icon in TANKO Park

Beyond its role as a public artwork, Constellation Tower serves as a symbolic guidepost within TANKO Park. Often referred to as the “Tower of Rain”, it has become an essential focal point for visitors and a testament to innovative design in public architecture. By integrating art, engineering, and community engagement, the tower elevates TANKO Park’s status as a premier destination for cultural experiences and architectural exploration.
