Five Villas by Noue Studio: A Harmonious Integration with the Landscape
Five Villas by Noue Studio seamlessly blend with the landscape, featuring sustainable materials, staggered layouts, and contemporary Swiss residential design.
Noue Studio presents Five Villas, a contemporary residential project in Villarsel-le-Gibloux, Switzerland, designed to merge seamlessly with the site's natural topography while preserving a distinct architectural identity. The 550 m² development, completed in 2025, embraces a staggered layout that enhances privacy and optimizes views of the surrounding landscape.

Site-Responsive Design and Architectural Composition
Set on a triangular plot, the five villas follow a staggered arrangement, allowing for a softer perception of the built volume while fostering a human-scale living experience. The overlapping pitched and flat roofs create a dynamic skyline, with the central circulation and service areas ensuring both functional efficiency and visual balance.
Each villa is distributed across three levels, adapting to the natural slope of the land. The eastern entrance features a covered parking space, while the western-facing living areas open onto private gardens, offering a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The upper floors house bedrooms with panoramic views, ensuring a clear distinction between communal and private areas.

Sustainable Materials and Thermal Performance
Noue Studio's material selection prioritizes sustainability, durability, and energy efficiency. The solid insulating brick ensures superior thermal inertia, maintaining comfortable indoor temperatures throughout the seasons. The concrete base provides structural stability, while the wooden upper floors introduce a sense of warmth and lightness.
To minimize the project's carbon footprint, the architects opted for an eco-friendly concrete mix with a higher clay content, reducing emissions while offering a warm beige hue that blends naturally with the landscape. The use of lime plaster and anhydrite screeds enhances thermal and humidity regulation, ensuring a healthier indoor environment.

A Contemporary Approach to Residential Living
The five villas feature two distinct typologies:
- Two 4.5-room units positioned at the periphery
- Three 3.5-room units at the center
This configuration fosters a sense of community while maintaining individual privacy. The project reinterprets the traditional Swiss farmhouse aesthetic, integrating massive masonry walls reminiscent of rubble stone constructions, yet with a contemporary execution that aligns with modern living standards.
By combining context-sensitive design, sustainable material choices, and a carefully considered spatial organization, Noue Studio delivers a timeless residential project that respects both nature and heritage.
