Fluir House by Sabella Arquitetura is a 1,400 m² contemporary residence in Bragança Paulista, Brazil, designed as a fully single-story home that flows seamlessly within its sloped terrain. Developed in 2024, the project reflects the clients’ desire for comfort, horizontality, and spatial openness while emphasizing natural light, cross ventilation, and thermal performance.

Site Strategy and T-Shaped Layout

The architects positioned the entire residence on an engineered plateau carved into the middle of the sloping site. This strategy allowed the home to unfold in a T-shaped configuration:

  • The social wing extends along the lower longitudinal axis, connecting living, dining, and leisure spaces.
  • The private wing branches in the opposite direction, hosting bedrooms and intimate areas with maximum privacy.
  • Both zones are linked by generous circulation corridors enhanced with internal winter gardens.

These winter gardens introduce daylight through skylights and maintain a comfortable interior climate, offering serene transitions between social and private areas.

Optimized Solar Orientation and Comfort

The plateau placement carefully considered the sun path:

  • Bedroom façades face east and west, balancing privacy and controlled natural light.
  • The social spaces open toward east and north, capturing morning and afternoon sunlight.
  • Brise-soleils, deep eaves, and external verandas shield spaces from harsh direct light while enhancing exterior circulation.

This combination of architectural shading and passive environmental strategies reduces heat gain and keeps indoor areas cool and comfortable.

Structural System: Concrete Meets Lightweight Metal

Fluir House combines concrete foundations and columns with a lightweight metal roof structure, allowing large structural spans without bulky elements. Metal beams enabled the architects to design a thin, sheet-like roof that visually stretches across the façades—a signature of modern Brazilian architecture.

This elegant horizontal line accentuates the home’s low profile and reinforces its integration with the landscape.

Material Palette and Minimalist Expression

The house features a neutral and cohesive palette aligned with the clients’ vision of lightness:

  • Pine wood with patina and matte clear varnish
  • Cumaru wood brise-soleils
  • Sand-colored aluminum frames
  • Concrete and OSB roofing with PVC waterproof membrane

The interplay between the slender roof and the rhythmic brise-soleils generates dynamic light and shadow patterns throughout the day, enriching the façade composition and enhancing spatial comfort.
