GA House by Narch Arquitectes: A Minimalist and Sustainable Urban Retreat
GA House by Narch Arquitectes is a minimalist, sustainable home featuring modular design, natural light, open spaces, and strong indoor-outdoor connectivity.
A Harmonious Blend of Functionality and Simplicity
The GA House, designed by Narch Arquitectes, is a contemporary residence located in El Bages, Spain. Conceived for a family of four, the house maximizes both interior and exterior living spaces within a compact urban plot. By integrating sustainable materials and a modular structural approach, the design fosters fluidity between the home’s indoor and outdoor areas.

Maximizing Space with a Modular Grid System
One of the key design strategies was to optimize space through a 6-square grid system, which efficiently resolves both structural and functional needs. The ground floor primarily houses a spacious garage, while the first floor accommodates the main living spaces, including a living room, dining area, kitchen, and master bedroom, all oriented towards an expansive terrace.
The second floor introduces a striking double-height void, allowing ample natural light to penetrate the living areas below. This level also features a study area, a shared bathroom, and two bedrooms for the daughters, ensuring privacy while maintaining an open and connected atmosphere.

Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Connection
A defining characteristic of GA House is its strong visual and spatial connection to the private interior garden. Large folding glass windows allow for complete or partial openness, adapting to seasonal changes and transforming the living areas into a semi-outdoor space. The absence of traditional partition walls enhances natural ventilation and daylight penetration, making the home both energy-efficient and inviting.

Minimalist Aesthetics and Structural Efficiency
The house’s prefabricated metal framework—comprising 12 HEB140 steel pillars—eliminates unnecessary partitions, ensuring a continuous flow between spaces. The exposed wooden floors and beams contribute to the home’s warm and natural ambiance while reinforcing its minimalist design ethos.
By embracing a cost-effective and environmentally conscious approach, GA House stands as a model of sustainable residential architecture, where simplicity, functionality, and adaptability shape a home that evolves with its inhabitants.
