Addressing Challenges: Context-Responsive Design

The west-facing plot and diagonal site lines posed significant challenges for the project. The design resolved these constraints by placing service zones along the west with solid walls to minimize heat gain and adopting deep verandahs that follow the diagonal site lines. These verandahs act as shading devices, reducing exposure to the tropical sun and heavy rainfall while fostering natural ventilation.

Enhancing Social and Visual Connections

For the landowner’s section, the design includes open terraces adjoining living and dining areas to encourage social interaction. A small rooftop study and open spaces with city views provide an elevated retreat, combining functionality with leisure. Double-height glass ceilings allow sunlight and rain to enhance the indoor environment, fostering a connection to the sky and surroundings.
