Guaxuma House by Angeli.Leão: A Coastal Retreat Blending Nature and Architecture
Guaxuma House blends tropical architecture with sustainable design, featuring natural materials, bioclimatic strategies, and locally crafted furniture for coastal living.
Sustainable Beachfront Living in Guaxuma, Brazil
Located on the pristine shores of Guaxuma Beach, just 20 minutes from Maceió’s urban center, Guaxuma House by Angeli.Leão Arquitetura is a stunning example of biophilic design. Nestled within a sparsely populated residential area, the project harmonizes with the tropical landscape, preserving the native coastal vegetation and embracing the region’s hot and humid climate.

Design Concept: Merging Architecture with Nature
Inspired by its beachfront surroundings, the architectural approach transforms this first home project into a contemporary seaside retreat. A carefully curated palette of natural materials—including exposed concrete, wood, hydraulic tiles, and granite—ensures a timeless aesthetic while enhancing sustainability and durability.
The bioclimatic design optimizes natural ventilation, allowing sea breezes to cool the interiors while maximizing natural light and shading. This approach creates a comfortable and energy-efficient home, reducing the need for artificial cooling.

Materiality and Interior Design: A Tribute to Brazilian Craftsmanship
The interior spaces are a testament to local craftsmanship, featuring custom-designed furniture made from solid Sucupira wood, executed by master artisan Mila in Alagoas. Complementing these elements are natural stone coffee and dining tables, as well as carefully selected classic and contemporary pieces from local Northeastern artisans and designers. The result is a personalized, authentic space that reflects the cultural richness of the region.

Architectural Features & Spatial Layout
- Open-plan living spaces seamlessly integrate indoor and outdoor environments, fostering a connection with nature.
- Expansive glass openings frame breathtaking ocean views while enhancing cross-ventilation.
- A shaded courtyard acts as a thermal buffer, regulating indoor temperatures.
- Locally sourced materials reduce environmental impact and support regional artisans.

A Vision for Coastal Living
Guaxuma House exemplifies the fusion of modern tropical architecture and sustainable design, offering a serene and immersive living experience. By prioritizing climate-responsive strategies and locally crafted elements, Angeli.Leão has created a timeless beach house that embraces both contemporary elegance and regional identity.
