Hilâl: A Sustainable Architectural Vision for Water Conservation
Innovating urban landscapes with sustainable water conservation—Hilâl merges architecture and ecology for a greener future.
The Hilâl project is designed to offer a public educational experience focused on water conservation. The landscape and circulation are meticulously planned to integrate water as a guiding element, allowing visitors to engage with natural filtration systems. These include rain gardens, wetlands, ECO concrete columns that foster oyster habitats, and a gravel infiltration parking lot, all contributing to an ecologically conscious design.

Key Features of the Project:
- Natural Water Filtration: The site incorporates rain gardens and wetland areas that support sustainable water management.
- ECO Concrete Columns: Designed to create oyster habitats and enhance biodiversity.
- Sustainable Circulation: The layout ensures that visitors move through different ecosystems, experiencing various water conservation strategies in action.
- Educational Experience: The project serves as an outdoor learning environment, raising awareness about ecological sustainability.

This visionary design is credited to Laura Dieguez and Thuy Tran, and was recognized as the Runner-Up Entry in the Ripple Competition. Hilâl stands as a model for integrating architectural innovation with sustainable water conservation strategies, redefining urban ecological landscapes.
