Home by Spacy Architecture: A Tranquil Residential Retreat on the Outskirts of Bangkok
A serene, modern Thai home by Spacy Architecture, blending open-plan living, natural light, and minimalist design near Bangkok.
Located just 30 kilometers from central Bangkok, Home by Spacy Architecture is a serene residential retreat nestled in a quiet suburban enclave. Designed in 2023, this 320-square-meter house reflects a minimalist yet sophisticated approach to modern Thai living—balancing architectural simplicity with a strong connection to nature.

A Lake-Facing Modern House with Thoughtful Orientation
Set against a picturesque golf course and facing a peaceful lake to the west, the home benefits from a scenic backdrop that shapes its orientation and spatial planning. The building’s layout takes full advantage of these surroundings, with expansive ribbon windows and transparent facades that draw the outside in. The design ensures that the residents are continuously immersed in the lush greenery and calming views, offering a daily escape from the bustling city.

Harmonizing Architecture with Landscape
The front façade is marked by ribboned window systems that create rhythmic horizontal lines and frame native plantings, establishing a strong rectilinear architectural language. The home’s transparent building envelope not only enhances daylight penetration and cross ventilation but also strengthens the bond between the built environment and the landscape.
A palette of neutral tones and natural materials, including oak wood, softens the geometric lines and complements the surrounding nature. These design choices evoke a sense of calm and simplicity, enhancing the biophilic design qualities throughout the home.

Open-Plan Interiors for Contemporary Living
Inside, the house features an open and flexible floor plan that seamlessly connects the kitchen, dining, living, and study areas. This layout fosters interaction and supports various day-to-day functions, reflecting the lifestyle needs of a modern family. Oversized west-facing windows offer views of the lake and invite in natural light and breezes, while interior curtains and customized wooden furniture contribute to privacy and comfort.
The use of oak flooring and modest, clean-lined furnishings enhances the understated aesthetic, while indirect lighting and double-height ceilings introduce a sense of lightness and spaciousness throughout the interiors.

A Seamless Transition Between Private and Communal Spaces
Vertical circulation is facilitated by a sculptural staircase, which connects the communal ground floor to the more intimate upper level. Here, three bedrooms are organized around a central open courtyard, which serves as a semi-outdoor extension of the indoor space. This courtyard introduces natural light and ventilation into the heart of the home while creating a tranquil focal point for the private quarters.
The master bedroom is discreetly tucked away, shielded by semi-transparent glass and privacy screens that filter external views without compromising daylight access. This layering of transparency and opacity ensures visual privacy while maintaining a sense of openness.

Quiet Sophistication and Thoughtful Details
From its strategic orientation to the precise detailing of material finishes, Home by Spacy Architecture embodies refined modern Thai architecture. Every element—from the minimalist façade to the quiet interiors—is designed to promote peace, clarity, and contemplation. It is a residence that not only houses its occupants but enriches their daily routines through the thoughtful integration of architecture and landscape.
