House CVV by TRAMA Arquitetos: A Contemporary Retreat in Braga, Portugal
House CVV by TRAMA Arquitetos in Braga features a V-shaped design, cobogó walls, exposed concrete, face-brick textures, maximizing light and views.
Nestled on the outskirts of Braga, Portugal, House CVV, designed by TRAMA Arquitetos, embodies the perfect balance between urban convenience and serene countryside living. Completed in 2022, this 442 m² residence was commissioned by a couple seeking to leave the bustling life of Lisbon in favor of a tranquil environment, while still maintaining striking views of the city and surrounding natural landscapes. The project was led by architects Bruno Leitão and Marco Bernardino, with photography by Attilio Fiumarella capturing its architectural essence.

A Thoughtful Design Responding to the Landscape
One of the primary goals of House CVV was to maximize the panoramic northern views without compromising privacy or natural light. To address this challenge, TRAMA Arquitetos conceived a unique V-shaped floor plan, which carefully separates private and social areas. The eastern side receives abundant morning light for bedrooms and intimate spaces, while the opposite side embraces expansive northern views for living areas.
A dramatic southern void, oriented toward the street and masked by a cobogó permeable wall, ensures privacy while allowing controlled natural light to filter through. This architectural feature also contributes to a dynamic play of shadows on the façade, creating visual movement that animates the building throughout the day.

Harmonious Integration of Courtyards and Circulation
The entrance area is thoughtfully recessed from the western boundary to form a landscaped courtyard, introducing greenery and natural light into interior circulation spaces. The continuation of the cobogó wall in a new orientation further enhances the sense of movement, subtly connecting interior and exterior spaces while maintaining an elegant balance of openness and seclusion.

Materiality and Architectural Expression
House CVV is distinguished by its material palette, which combines exposed concrete and face-brick to highlight texture, depth, and craftsmanship. These choices not only define the architectural identity of the residence but also anchor it harmoniously within its surrounding landscape. The interplay of solid and perforated surfaces adds both visual intrigue and functional light control, ensuring the home is as comfortable as it is aesthetically striking.

A Modern Home for Contemporary Living
Ultimately, House CVV stands as a testament to contemporary residential architecture in Portugal, exemplifying how thoughtful planning, innovative design, and material authenticity can create a home that is both private and connected to its surroundings. TRAMA Arquitetos’ approach proves that modern living does not have to compromise natural beauty or spatial comfort—it can, instead, enhance it.
