House D+J by Pablo Lanza Arquitetura: A Contemporary Family Retreat Embracing Nature and Leisure
House D+J by Pablo Lanza Arquitetura blends modern family living, natural materials, leisure spaces, and abundant greenery with sunlight and privacy.
A Modern Haven for Family and Guests
House D+J is more than a residence; it’s a thoughtfully designed sanctuary that balances modern architecture, family living, and outdoor leisure. Every aspect, from its orientation and materials to its recreational amenities, reflects a commitment to comfort, sustainability, and visual harmony.
This project by Pablo Lanza Arquitetura is a prime example of how contemporary residential design can embrace nature while meeting the lifestyle demands of today’s families.

Nestled within a generously proportioned plot chosen with care, House D+J is a masterclass in modern residential architecture that harmonizes nature, leisure, and family life. Designed for a young couple with two children, the home seamlessly balances private and communal spaces while integrating sustainable strategies, natural materials, and abundant greenery.

Design Concept
The primary goal of the project was to maximize open areas and prioritize lush landscapes, creating a strong connection between the indoor and outdoor environments. The residence is thoughtfully positioned on the lot to face northeast, capturing the morning sun while framing the most compelling views. By situating the house toward the left and shielding it from the western sun, the design protects key living spaces from overheating while enhancing natural light and privacy.
An “L”-shaped layout ensures intimate family zones are shielded from street views while establishing an elegant spatial flow. The architecture emphasizes comfort, well-being, and social interaction, catering to both family life and guest entertainment.

Leisure and Wellness
Understanding the family’s active lifestyle, the residence incorporates a lap pool, soccer field, beach tennis court, and fully equipped gym, supporting a culture of health and sport. The gourmet space takes center stage as the main hub of the house, connecting effortlessly to the kitchen, playroom, and saunas, creating a social nucleus for family gatherings and entertainment.

Materiality and Structure
A careful selection of natural materials reinforces the home’s warmth and timelessness. The ground floor features heavier elements such as moledo stone, forming a sturdy base for the residence. The upper floor introduces vertically ribbed panels to evoke lightness, floating above the lower level while maintaining symmetry and visual balance. A delicate exposed Glulam roof crowns the gourmet area, harmoniously blending structural elegance with design sophistication.

Spatial Experience
The interior is a study in balance and refinement. Open-plan living areas, strategically oriented toward the northeast, invite natural sunlight and scenic views, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. Thoughtful zoning allows the home office to double as a private library, fulfilling the modern trend of home workspaces without compromising leisure areas.
