Jandayas House by Sala 03 Arquitetura: A Contemporary Retreat in the Countryside of São Paulo
Jandayas House by Sala 03 Arquitetura is a private, contemporary summer retreat blending nature, comfort, and minimalist Brazilian design.
A Dream Summer House with Privacy and Landscape Integration
Jandayas House, designed by Sala 03 Arquitetura, is a contemporary residence that masterfully blends privacy, landscape, and elegant simplicity. Located in the serene countryside of São Paulo, Brazil, this 7,858-square-foot summer house was envisioned for a family of three — a doctor, a fashion designer, and their teenage daughter — who desired a private and relaxed retreat where design meets functionality without ostentation.
The owners discovered Sala 03 Arquitetura through a sign at the condominium where they intended to build their second home. The connection between the family and the architects was instant, allowing for a collaborative and free-flowing design process that led to a remarkable architectural creation.

Architectural Design Focused on Discretion and Comfort
The client's primary requests were clear: total privacy, extensive landscape integration, and an elevated structure that would feel welcoming rather than extravagant. The design response was a contemporary, discreet facade, carefully positioned on a generous 3,040 m² plot, with all openings facing the private pool and gardens.
The residence unfolds linearly, ensuring that social spaces and private quarters benefit equally from natural light, landscape views, and seamless circulation. A long, central corridor functions as a gallery, connecting various rooms while creating a rhythmic play of volumes and open courtyards planted with lush vegetation.
The elevation of the floor not only facilitates easy maintenance — by allowing infrastructure to run beneath — but also enhances thermal comfort, an essential feature for a summer home.

Integrated Social Spaces and Indoor-Outdoor Harmony
The heart of Jandayas House lies in its integrated living and dining areas, forming a welcoming entrance framed by thoughtfully curated furniture and a stunning winter garden. The straw-lined ceiling of the gourmet kitchen space can be fully opened to the social area, further blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living.
The swimming pool is a standout feature, boasting a spa, a shallow leisure area, and a lap lane with an infinity edge that overlooks the sloping terrain and stretches toward the horizon, offering breathtaking views.
The master suite is a private haven, complete with a lounge space facing the bed and a bathroom that opens onto a private garden, creating a direct connection to nature.
On the opposite wing, a gym, two cozy television rooms, and a sauna overlooking the pool provide diverse recreational options, fulfilling the family's desire for both relaxation and entertainment.

Materials and Interior Design with a Boho-Chic Touch
The architectural structure cleverly combines metallic frameworks with masonry, allowing the residence to gracefully span the entire plot. A lightweight metal roof, waterproofed with a thermoplastic membrane, and exterior cladding in concrete slats underscore the project's commitment to durability and minimalist aesthetics.
The interior design mirrors the architectural philosophy — celebrating straight lines, clean visuals, and an understated, boho-chic spirit. Freedom to mix cultures and styles is evident throughout, with standout decorative pieces sourced from vintage shops, auctions, bazaars, and custom creations. The owner's active participation in curating art and furniture adds a deeply personal layer to the home’s identity.

A Modern Countryside Sanctuary
Jandayas House by Sala 03 Arquitetura exemplifies contemporary Brazilian residential design — balancing privacy, openness, functionality, and artistry in a way that feels effortlessly natural. With its integrated landscaping, carefully curated interiors, and commitment to comfort and simplicity, this summer home is a true modern sanctuary, built for living, relaxing, and enjoying life close to nature.
