Lavender Hill- senioral estate
The subject of the work is a project of a housing estate for the elderly in the province of Perugia, Italy. The concept is based on the idea of cohousing and contact with nature.
The work is a concept of a housing estate adapted for elderly people in Pantalla in the central part of Italy. Attention was paid to ensuring accessibility and harmony with the environment. It is a place of maintaining independence, privacy and ensuring high social comfort with safety and constant support in duties or in crisis situations. It is an ideal solution for people who want to be independent, do not need constant care with the possibility of providing certain amenities. The solutions adopted in the project are to ensure a barrier-free environment with equal adaptation to the topography and integration into the surrounding environment.
The issue of the project was to create a coherent and at the same time "stimulating" space for the elderly, hence the name of the project.Everyone associates lavender with the fields of Provence, the Mediterranean climate, and has a soothing scent for the nervous system. This is mainly why this name was chosen, and another argument was that the Italian climate favors its spontaneous growth without the need for cultivation.Adapting the development to the topography of the terrain leads to the location of buildings at different heights, thanks to which the pedestrian routes are not boring accesses but a variety of places for walks. Communication is relatively well developed in order to encourage residents to move. The project is supposed to give the impression of a place that is calm and consistent with the nature of life, therefore it fits well into the surrounding area and has "idyll" and character. Following the idea of cohousing influences the strengthening of ties between the inhabitants and the fight against separation from the society.
