Marayui House by PBS Arquitectos – Coastal Vacation Home in Chapadmalal, Argentina

Located within the exclusive Marayui Country Club in Chapadmalal, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, Marayui House by PBS Arquitectos is a 165 m² coastal vacation home designed for temporary stays and effortless maintenance. Completed in 2024 by lead architects Nicolás Podestá and Tomás Berro Sagarna, the residence combines functional elegance with a thoughtful spatial layout that accommodates multiple occupants while blending seamlessly with its lush garden surroundings.

The architectural concept centers on the careful dialogue between served and servant spaces, creating a reciprocal relationship where each area derives meaning from the other. The design features three servant spaces: two identically sized bathrooms serving three bedrooms (including one en suite) and a third multi-functional space integrating the kitchen, powder room, laundry, outdoor grill, and storage. These support the four served spaces comprising the living room, dining area, gallery, and garden.

The home is organized into two distinct sections—private and public zones—allowing rest and relaxation in the bedroom area, while social activities and gatherings occur in the living-dining-gallery and kitchen areas. This spatial partitioning is expressed through the roof design: a two-pitched inclined roof caps the bedroom wing at 3.50 meters, while the public zone features a single-sloped roof reaching 4.2 meters at its peak. The inclined roofs not only reinforce the functional zoning but also facilitate low-maintenance living by allowing natural drainage without gutters, harmonizing with the surrounding landscape.

Stone is the primary material, chosen for its durability and natural aging qualities, ensuring the home weathers gracefully over time. Throughout, warm wood accents in beams, furniture, and interior detailing foster a cozy and refined aesthetic, bridging the connection between the natural surroundings and contemporary coastal living.
