This 240 m² family home, completed in 2023, is a perfect synthesis of functionality, aesthetics, and cultural expression. Nestled on a compact 600 m² plot in a bustling neighborhood, the house artfully balances privacy, warmth, and contemporary design.

Site and Form

The angularity of the plot dictated the unique shape of the house. Despite the skewed lot, the interior achieves a sense of order and practicality. The structure consists of three volumes unified under a double-pitched roof, visible only from above. These volumes are expressed externally as minimalist, elegant boxes, their geometry concealing the complexities within.

A Haven of Privacy and Connection

From the street, the M\W House appears as a private retreat, guarding its inhabitants from the urban environment. Inside, however, the house transforms, revealing a triangular terrace at its heart. This terrace, framed by an impressive 8-meter V-shaped window, connects the indoor living space to the surrounding landscape. The design fosters an intimate yet expansive experience, allowing the family to enjoy Latvia’s scenic outdoors, even during its long winters.

Materiality and Sustainability
