Moontrip Pantheon: An Immersive Monument of Experiential Architecture
Where imagination meets architecture—an experiential journey that blends lunar missions, learning, and interactive design.
Project by Mark Kuzin | Shortlisted Entry of Libgen 2019
Rooted in the symbolism of ancient temples, the "Moontrip Pantheon" is a powerful homage to humanity's lunar explorations. Inspired by the Roman Pantheon and the Acropolis of Athens, this architectural concept reimagines the temple not just as a place of reverence but as an active, immersive educational experience. Designed using the golden ratio, this architectural composition transcends form, offering a deeply experiential architecture approach to learning and discovery.
The site is arranged as a circular urban complex, welcoming visitors into a continuous spatial narrative. At its heart lies a main building that spans three floors, hosting thematic halls dedicated to various scientific disciplines. These include the Math Hall, Chemistry Hall, Geology Hall, and Astronaut Hall—each designed as interactive environments that foster curiosity, exploration, and engagement.

The spatial configuration empowers visitors with freedom of movement and choice. The second floor is designed as an open loop, encouraging users to circulate, explore, and choose their own path—a clear nod to the democratic spirit of knowledge and discovery. This unrestricted circulation enhances the building’s experiential nature, making architecture a facilitator of independent thinking.
One of the highlights of the design is the Moon Room—an imaginative, simulated lunar environment where children are given small missions. This pedagogical strategy blends play with learning, offering a uniquely immersive experience in an atmosphere designed to feel close to the moon. This symbolic experience speaks directly to the idea of architectural storytelling and spatial narrative, placing the user in an active role within the educational journey.

The entire complex incorporates mixed-use programming beyond just exhibitions. From a movie theatre and library to coffee shops, recreation areas, and even a street theatre, the site serves as a holistic destination for all age groups. Each space is designed to be multi-sensory, extending the definition of educational space into something more performative, emotional, and memorable.
With soft daylight filtering into reading alcoves, modular exhibition halls wrapped around a central plaza, and a conscious seasonal design reflected in its year-round usability, the Moontrip Pantheon delivers not just knowledge but experience. It celebrates architecture as a vehicle for storytelling, learning, and wonder—a true embodiment of experiential architecture.
By transforming space into a story and users into participants, this project exemplifies how architecture can transcend function to become an emotional, educational journey. The Moontrip Pantheon is not just a tribute to lunar missions; it’s a temple for the imagination.
