Parkbuilding De Veentjes: A Sustainable Urban Renewal by JCR Architecten
Parkbuilding De Veentjes by JCR Architecten transforms a neglected site into a sustainable, modern residential complex with green courtyards and terraces.
Revitalizing the Urban Landscape with Modern Residential Architecture
Parkbuilding De Veentjes, designed by JCR Architecten, is a remarkable example of urban regeneration and sustainable residential architecture. Located in Doetinchem, The Netherlands, this newly completed project transforms the site of a former supermarket into a modern and vibrant apartment complex featuring 75 high-quality residential units.
The project, developed by Phoenx, was conceived to revitalize a neglected urban area on the edge of the city center. By introducing a contemporary residential building that seamlessly integrates with its surroundings, the development enhances the city's architectural landscape while fostering a sense of community and connectivity.

Sustainable Design with Green Living Spaces
The architectural concept focuses on sustainability, energy efficiency, and urban renewal. The courtyard building features:
- Expansive terraces on the exterior for an open and inviting atmosphere
- A landscaped central courtyard that serves as a green communal space
- A shared rooftop garden, promoting eco-friendly living and social interaction
By incorporating lush greenery, the building enhances air quality, promotes biodiversity, and reduces urban heat. These elements align with sustainable architecture principles, making it a future-ready residential development.

Architectural Innovation and Aesthetic Appeal
The building’s façade combines concrete plinths on the lower floors with a sleek steel structure on the upper levels. This design creates a harmonious contrast, adding both stability and lightness to the overall structure. The use of large glass windows enhances natural daylight penetration, creating a seamless connection with the park and the surrounding environment.
Inside, the atrium design allows sunlight to reach deep into the building, ensuring well-lit corridors and common spaces. Clearly visible entrances enhance security and accessibility, offering a sense of safety and openness for residents.

A Strong Urban Identity with Lasting Impact
Parkbuilding De Veentjes is more than just a residential complex—it is a catalyst for urban transformation. By integrating high-quality materials, thoughtful design, and ecological elements, JCR Architecten has successfully delivered a visionary architectural project that breathes new life into the city.
