Paul-Gerhardt-Allee Apartments by allmannwappner – Modern Residential and Commercial Landmark in Munich
Paul-Gerhardt-Allee Apartments in Munich feature modern residential and commercial spaces, rooftop gardens, dynamic façades, and community-focused urban design.
Located in the vibrant urban quarter of Paul Gerhardt Allee in Munich, Germany, the Paul-Gerhardt-Allee Apartments designed by the renowned architecture firm allmannwappner exemplify modern urban living integrated seamlessly with retail and commercial spaces. Completed in 2021, this multifunctional development covers an area of 39,750 m², featuring contemporary apartments, shops, restaurants, and office spaces, making it a key destination in the emerging district.

The project is strategically positioned at the western edge of the quarter, acting as both a gateway and stabilizing element for the surrounding buildings. Its primary aim is to create an intuitive, visually appealing, and functional landmark for residents, visitors, and local businesses. The design also prioritizes connectivity to the main square, establishing a strong public presence while offering a welcoming entrance into the neighborhood.

The architecture of Paul-Gerhardt-Allee Apartments is defined by three polygonal high-rise structures resting on a continuous ground-floor podium, which houses the commercial and retail areas. The tallest of the three structures serves as a visual landmark, guiding visitors into the new urban quarter. The other two buildings are staggered in height and offset, creating a dynamic yet harmonious skyline that blends with Munich’s legacy architecture while responding to new urban developments.

The buildings’ bright white facades contribute to a light, elegant aesthetic, enhancing the sense of openness and airiness. Variable façade grids incorporate folded metal screens—some solid, some perforated, some stationary, and others retractable—allowing residents to control light, privacy, and views while creating a constantly shifting visual effect for onlookers. This innovative façade treatment ensures that the buildings remain visually dynamic from every vantage point.

Above the commercial podium, approximately 160 residential units occupy the three high-rises, providing a variety of layouts for urban living. Most apartments are oriented east-west, with larger units enjoying dual aspects and spacious terraces. The development also emphasizes communal living, featuring a rooftop terrace with landscaped gardens, recreational areas, and play zones for residents. Enclosed by a white pergola, the rooftop garden acts as a semi-public social hub, offering stunning views of the surrounding cityscape.

Internally, the apartments are designed for comfort, functionality, and flexibility, seamlessly integrating indoor living with outdoor spaces through terraces and balconies. Residents benefit from direct access to shops and amenities on the podium level, while maintaining a sense of privacy and separation from commercial zones.

The Paul-Gerhardt-Allee Apartments exemplify modern, mixed-use urban architecture that balances aesthetic sophistication, functional design, and community-focused living. By integrating retail, recreational, and residential elements into one cohesive development, allmannwappner has created a landmark project that strengthens Munich’s evolving urban identity.
