Residência ZV is a contemporary residential project by Fpoles Arquitetos located in the lush interior of São Paulo, Brazil, in the city of Sorocaba. Designed for a young family of three, the project emphasizes sustainability, spatial quality, and deep integration with nature. The house is a response to the clients' desire for a home that maximizes open outdoor areas while maintaining a strong connection with the surrounding landscape.

Design Concept & Spatial Strategy

The architectural concept centers around a minimal footprint on the lot, allowing for expansive gardens and outdoor spaces. A unique 360-degree peripheral balcony wraps around the entire house, offering unobstructed views of the surrounding valleys and creating seamless indoor-outdoor integration.

Residência ZV is organized into two distinct volumes across two floors:

  • Ground Floor: Social areas, guest suite, and service zones
  • Upper Floor: Private bedrooms and a pantry, each with direct access to the wraparound balcony

This architectural layout enhances privacy while promoting openness to the surrounding environment.

Materiality & Sensory Experience

A defining feature of the house is its thoughtful material palette, which includes:

  • Natural stone at the ground level to anchor the home
  • Exposed concrete on the upper floor for a modern aesthetic
  • Corten steel, wood, and burnt cement that add texture and warmth
  • Native landscaping to blend architecture with nature

The project invites residents and visitors into an immersive environment where light, texture, and natural materials harmonize to create emotional resonance.

Landscape & Architecture in Harmony

The landscaping, designed by Jardim Bossa, is not an afterthought but a central component of the overall architectural vision. Trees, native vegetation, and green courtyards penetrate the living spaces, blurring boundaries between built form and landscape. A curated pathway of stone, greenery, and filtered sunlight leads to the entrance, providing an organic transition into the home.

Each space is curated to resonate with the house’s structural identity while allowing for personal expression and vibrant social living.

Sustainability & Lifestyle Integration

Residência ZV not only meets functional and aesthetic aspirations but also supports eco-conscious living. The use of locally sourced materials, passive ventilation, and thermal massing ensures comfort and sustainability year-round.
