Retrofitted Beauty Salon Design in Brazil: The Transformation of House B by APB Oficina de Projetos
The article explores House B's transformation into Casa B, a retrofitted beauty salon in Brazil, blending modernity with historical elements.
In the heart of Iguaçu, Brazil, House B stands as a testament to the innovative retrofitted beauty salon design. Originally a post-modern house from the 80s, APB Oficina de Projetos has masterfully preserved its essence while introducing modern functionalities required for a contemporary beauty salon.

Preserving the Past, Embracing the Future
Honoring Original Architecture
House B, designed by lead architect Ana Paula Brunetto, maintains its original charm with wooden floors, granite, marble, and exposed concrete. The design challenge was to adapt these elements to fit the new role as Casa B, a cozy and welcoming beauty salon.

A Blend of Functionality and Aesthetics
The renovation focused on retaining the house's character, ensuring that new additions like concrete elements and suspended mirrors complemented the existing structure. Original furniture pieces were reimagined, integrating them seamlessly into the salon's new layout.

Design Details that Stand Out
Integrating Natural Light and Open Spaces
The large glass panels were kept to enhance natural lighting and openness, vital for the salon's welcoming atmosphere. The transformation respects the building's original aesthetics while meeting the operational needs of a beauty salon.

Creative Reuse and Adaptation
Key features, such as the old office desk and the bar's curves, were restored and adapted to the salon's needs. These elements, along with original lighting fixtures, maintain the soul of the house while serving new functions.

A New Chapter for House B
The transformation of House B into Casa B represents a harmonious balance between past and present, showcasing a successful retrofitted beauty salon design in Brazil. This project serves as a prime example of how architectural integrity and commercial functionality can coexist, providing a unique beauty and well-being experience.
