Step into the lap of luxury with the stunning West Village apartment - your ultimate dream home
Is this the most stylish and sought-after apartment in all of New York City's West Village?

A stunning West Village apartment has recently caught the attention of the architecture and design community. Housed in a former paper warehouse, this double unit has been beautifully transformed into a spacious and welcoming home for a growing family.
The couple who commissioned the project had outgrown their current apartment and desired more storage space, as well as a generous area to entertain guests. The interior architecture of the apartment was approached as a set of eidetic moments, creating highly recognizable forms that conjured ideas of use and memory.
The apartment's timber structure was maintained, with as much of the material as possible left exposed to preserve its appearance. The design team focused on creating rigour in form and detailing, prioritizing functionality over exuberance. The resulting space is a beautiful balance between openness and privacy, with a floor plan that creates a dumbbell shape, with public and private areas on opposite poles.
Entering the apartment, visitors are greeted by a curved wall that creates a condensing vestibule. The feeling of a tall, compact space is further enhanced by floor-to-ceiling doors of solid oak, which reveal deep storage spaces. A storage bench, stained in a deep shade of cobalt, serves as a touchstone for the elements visitors are intended to engage with.
The kitchen, set around a pair of double windows overlooking the Hudson River, features a material palette that includes dyed solid surfaces and oiled soapstone at the fireplace and window sills. New floors in wide-plank larch span the entirety of the home, with a white oil finish that brings attention to the material's grain and establishes a strong linear language that traces through to the private half of the home.
The main bedroom and convertible office bracket one end of the home, creating a more enclosed area with an emphasis on privacy and framed views of the Hudson. A distinct material moment is created in this space with a closet clad in traditional gold paper. This moment of exuberant vanity stands out in a project that otherwise explores restraint.
The apartment is furnished with a mix of contemporary and vintage pieces, as well as furniture of the design team's own creation. The result is a beautifully balanced home that is both welcoming and functional, a true gem in the heart of the West Village.
