Terras House by Taguá Arquitetura: A Modern Fusion of Concrete, Steel, and Nature
Terras House blends concrete, steel, and glass, featuring open spaces, natural integration, and seamless indoor-outdoor living in São Paulo.
A Contemporary Residence in São Paulo
Terras House, designed by Taguá Arquitetura, is a striking example of modern residential architecture in Brazil. Located in the interior of São Paulo, this 650 m² home masterfully blends reinforced concrete, steel, wood, and glass, creating a seamless integration between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Spatial Organization and Design Concept
The residence is designed as a single-story home, responding to the client's request for open spaces and visual connectivity. The architects divided the house into three distinct volumes:
- East Block: A private wing housing bedrooms and intimate spaces.
- Central Block: The main social area with a steel-framed roof and wood cladding, featuring a spacious living room.
- West Block: Kitchen, service areas, and a gourmet space that connects to the outdoor patio and pool.
These blocks are interconnected by glass walkways, ensuring continuous interaction with landscaped courtyards and gardens.

A Balance of Privacy and Openness
The facade of Terras House is intentionally designed for privacy, with a nearly solid wall clad in soft stone, while the rest of the residence embraces transparency through floor-to-ceiling glass panels. The central garden acts as the heart of the home, uniting all sections and enhancing natural ventilation and lighting.

Structural Innovation and Materiality
By using a hybrid construction system, the project achieves large spans and minimal structural elements, thanks to steel framing in key areas like the living room, garage, and gourmet space. The metal roof in the social area integrates open-air garden spaces, reinforcing the home's connection to nature.

Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living
The living room, kitchen, and gourmet area are interconnected under a glass-roofed structure with slatted brise-soleil, offering shaded, well-lit spaces. The gourmet area, supported by slender metal pillars, opens directly to the pool and lush landscaping, making it a focal point for social gatherings.
The careful arrangement of blocks ensures a harmonious flow between indoor and outdoor areas, embracing sustainability, passive cooling strategies, and biophilic design principles.

A Contemporary Retreat Rooted in Nature
Terras House is a testament to modern Brazilian architecture, where minimalist aesthetics, natural materials, and structural efficiency come together to create a sophisticated yet inviting living space.
