Transform Art with Technology - Join the BeeGraphy Design Awards
Showcase your unique creations and explore the power of computational design with BeeGraphy.
BeeGraphy is proud to present the BeeGraphy Design Awards 2024, a series of design challenges that bring computational design to the forefront. Among the ten diverse categories, Art & Collectibles stands out as a celebration of creativity, technology, and innovation. This category invites artists, designers, and creative minds to explore the intersection of art and technology, pushing the boundaries of traditional artistic expression.
Embracing Computational Design
Computational design is revolutionizing the world of art by blending design and data through advanced algorithms and software. This approach allows artists to create complex, innovative, and efficient designs that were previously unimaginable. BeeGraphy’s platform, with its user-friendly interface, makes these powerful tools accessible to everyone, democratizing the creative process.

By utilizing tools such as Rhino with Grasshopper, Autodesk Fusion 360, and Blender, artists can craft intricate pieces, from digital art to generative designs and interactive installations. These technologies open up new possibilities, allowing for the creation of art that evolves, transforms, and interacts with its environment.
The Art & Collectibles Category
The Art & Collectibles category at the BeeGraphy Design Awards invites participants to conceive and create unique art pieces that transcend traditional boundaries. Using computational design tools, artists can experiment with algorithms, explore new materials, and push the limits of artistic expression.

Design Criteria
- Integration of Artistic Concepts and Computational Techniques: Designs should demonstrate a clear integration of artistic concepts with computational design techniques.
- Producibility: Each piece should be producible using digital fabrication methods such as 3D printing, CNC machining, or laser cutting.
- Creativity and Originality: We are looking for creativity and originality in both concept and design.
- Aesthetic Appeal and Emotional Impact: The designs should have a strong visual presence and emotional resonance.
- Practicality: The designs should be practical to produce using computational design methods.
Example Inspirations
- Generative Art: Develop algorithms that produce unique visual compositions, exploring patterns, forms, and colors in ways that challenge conventional artistic approaches.
- Parametric Sculptures: Design intricate 3D printed sculptures with complex geometries and organic forms, showcasing the precision and possibilities of computational design.
- Hybrid Art Forms: Combine traditional artistic techniques with computational design, such as incorporating 3D printed elements into paintings or sculptures.
Computational Design and Artistic Innovation
Computational design is more than just a tool; it’s a transformative approach that enables artists to create more complex, customizable, and efficient designs. This method allows for the exploration of patterns and structures that are both beautiful and mathematically precise, leading to new forms of artistic expression.

Submission and Evaluation
The submission deadline for Stage 1 of the competition is August 5, 2024. The community will vote, and the top ten designs will be shortlisted and announced on August 12, 2024. These shortlisted designs will move on to Stage 2, where they will be refined and detailed, with a focus on practicality and manufacturability.
Participants are encouraged to use BeeGraphy’s platform to create their designs, prepare fabrication files, and share the story behind their work. The final designs will be evaluated based on creativity, originality, aesthetic appeal, practicality, and the effective use of computational design tools.
Meet the Jurors
We are honored to have a panel of esteemed jurors to evaluate the entries. Here are two of the distinguished jurors for the Art & Collectibles category:
Mohammed Mansoor: Lead Designer at Rafael Viñoly Architects with global experience, Mansoor holds a Master’s in Advanced Architectural Design from Cornell University. His career spans significant roles at SANAA Architects, Robert A.M. Stern Architects, and Rafael Viñoly Architects, where he has contributed to iconic projects worldwide.
Jose Luis Garcia Del Castillo Y López: Lecturer at Harvard GSD and Founder of ParametricCamp, Jose Luis is an architect, computational designer, and educator. He explores the creative opportunities at the intersection of design, technology, fabrication, data, and art. His work focuses on democratizing access to robotic technologies for designers and artists.

The Art & Collectibles category at the BeeGraphy Design Awards 2024 is a call to all artists and designers to push the boundaries of their creativity. By leveraging computational design tools, participants can create groundbreaking art that redefines traditional boundaries and explores new realms of artistic expression.
