Treetops House, designed by OB Architecture, is a striking contemporary residence located in Farnham, United Kingdom. Nestled within a steeply sloped, forested landscape and surrounded by towering pine trees, the home masterfully blends modern architectural design with warm, natural materials, resulting in a luxurious yet inviting retreat that engages fully with its woodland context.

Responding to Topography with Layered Design

Built in 2022, the 704 m² residence responds dramatically to the site's unique topography. The design features a series of tiered terraces, projecting balconies, and timber louvered screens that reach outward into the treetops, creating a dynamic interaction between the home and its environment. The façade's warm buff brickwork and rich iroko timber cladding echo the textures and tones of the surrounding forest, ensuring the building feels both rooted and respectful within its natural setting.

Grand Spaces for Entertaining and Intimate Living

Inside, the home offers an impressive array of spaces that balance expansive entertaining zones with intimate, cozy nooks. A vast open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area forms the heart of the home, complete with double-height glazing that offers uninterrupted panoramic views of the forest. At a more human scale, sunken lounges, a meditation room, and a wood-clad private study offer warmth, tranquility, and retreat.

Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Integration

Connection to nature was a core design principle. Upper-level bedrooms, tucked under a distinctive floating roof canopy, frame serene outlooks across the treetops, while a spa opens directly onto the rear terrace, leading toward a swimming pool and tennis court. The home’s architectural rhythm—through form, material, and view—establishes a constant dialogue between indoor comfort and outdoor immersion.

Collaborative Excellence

Treetops House was brought to life through a collaborative team of specialists, including Grover Building Services as the main contractor, Marbas as structural engineers, and finishes and fittings by leading manufacturers such as Urban Front, Plum, Roman Pools, and Smart SI. The result is a holistic, high-performance family home that is both sculptural and soulful.
