Tying up the nature with the human
Keeping the nature beside every human elevates the user’s mood and efficiency and keeps them inexhaustible.
The change of life styles in the recent century and the limited access of natural light in one hand, and the global warming and its effects on the sun beams in the other hand causes some unfavourable effects in mental and physical human health. This is a main concerning issue which should be considered in future architectures. Here, a creative design of building in Oslo, Norway with various ranges of activities such as library, garden house, meditation is proposed. Increasing the mental relaxation of the users, providing enjoyable spaces is a concerning issue which is considered in the design process by welcoming the sun light inside the building, imposing people in proper natural light and also protecting them from the undesirable climate. One alternative for this purpose is the use of transparent walls with light controlling louvers. The louvers are made of aluminium covers containing an insulation layer inside in order to prevent the cold weather inside. Their opening angle can be adjusted to pass a desirable amount of light inside in a way that the functions do not disrupted. The transparent materials are also selected to made of double skin glasses in order to decrease the energy wasting. In some parts of the building a solid concrete is used to prevent the undesirable sun lights.
The site of the project has a triangular shape causing various design limitations. In order to the maximize the lot coverage and also to decrease the negative spaces, it is decided to use the border lines of the site to form the building. For this purpose, the site is mirrored over the chord of the triangle to form a rectangular. The offset of the border lines of the new shape is a smaller rectangular which is composed of two similar triangles. By imposing the triangles backwardly, we can reach a suitable plan of the building decreasing the useless spaces of the sites. Filleting the salient angles of the produced plan increases the functionality of the inside spaces as well as the accessibility of the natural light which is more interested.
The adoptability of the building is highlighted in the interior spaces by decreasing the fixed walls and application of free plan concept. The addition of different spaces or the increase of available areas are some examples of possible adoptability.
The proceeding theory leads to remove of the boundaries between different spaces; therefore, one possible choice for connecting different spaces and increasing their overall desirability is the use of ramp way. This will also help in improving the visual points of the interior spaces. Some stop points with various functions are also considered in different parts of ramp which allows the users to continue their activities and eliminate the monotonous feeling. The ramp way can be expanded either in case of adding different extra levels to the building in order to provide some new spaces in future or when the increased capacity is required.
The building contains different social activities such as library, yuga, meditation, spa, and etc, as mentioned above. Despite the fact that these spaces are usually designed to be private; however, some public places are added among these spaces to increase the communications and togetherness. One of the main choices for these spaces is the design of garden houses, which provides natural view to all spaces. The garden house is located in the middle of the plan and goes through the building and form the atrium. The roof in the upper side of garden house is decided to be made of transparent glass which also passes the natural light inside. The garden house also contains some places for different activities for whom they prefer to use non-private parts.
Inside the site, sitting and napping zones are designed to make the possibility of watching the interesting view of aurora in the time of its formation. They are also used for resting and communicating in usual times. The application of glass material around the building also make a spectacular view of aurora from inside the building.
The application of the garden house and green spaces inside the building, providing the natural view for all functions, getting through the spaces and gardens via ramp way, increasing the site view, and maximizing the inside desirable natural light in a moderate temperature takes the advantages of nature and elevate the user’s mood and efficiency and keep them inexhaustible. This is the place they like to come back.
