V8 Apartment by DA bureau: A Family-Centered Interior Built Around Music and Modern Living
A warm, family-focused apartment with a multifunctional wooden core, spacious living area, and a cherished grand piano integrated into modern minimalist design.
The V8 Apartment by DA bureau in Saint Petersburg reimagines family living through a thoughtful blend of functionality, warmth, and spatial clarity. Designed for a couple with three children, this 150 m² home balances private comfort with shared experiences, while placing a cherished family grand piano at the heart of the interior. The result is a modern apartment where architecture, lifestyle, and memory coexist seamlessly.

DA bureau’s design vision focuses on optimizing circulation and creating a layout that supports a dynamic family routine. To achieve this, the apartment is conceptually divided into two distinct zones: a generous public area for gathering, dining, and music; and a calm private wing that houses the bedrooms and bathrooms. This separation allows the home to support both social interaction and personal retreat without interruption.

In the public zone, the kitchen-living room becomes the social core of the apartment. Here, the grand piano—a family heirloom—anchors the interior, transforming the space into an everyday stage for creativity and connection. Natural wood surfaces, minimal detailing, and soft lighting establish an atmosphere of intimacy and refinement, while large windows enhance openness and fluidity.

A portion of the bay window is reserved as the workspace for the head of the family, offering daylight, privacy, and flexibility. With the simple addition of curtains, this nook can be easily separated from the main living area, accommodating changing needs throughout the day.

A central wooden block serves as the apartment’s most defining architectural feature. More than a visual statement, this multifunctional core organizes movement and integrates essential functions—including the guest bathroom, wardrobe, and parts of the kitchen—into a single cohesive volume. This strategic design approach improves logistics, shortens circulation paths, and frees the surrounding rooms for clearer, more efficient use.

In the private wing, the bedrooms embody calmness and clarity. Soft materials, warm tones, and refined lighting promote restfulness, offering each family member a personal sanctuary. The bathrooms continue this sensibility with clean lines and tactile finishes that reinforce the apartment’s overall harmony.
