Platform Ark in The Lake Nakuru National Park
The proposal for the observatory platform in The Lake Nakuru National Park aims to create a structure that naturally blends into the landscape and creates space that is visited by the tourists but without interrupting wildlife. The platforms are stored one on another and they are gently blended into the local terrain. Horizonal lines merge with the local hills. By providing safe space for animals, the designed structure allow tourists to reach closer distance without disturbing natural habitat.
First level is a space with mud pockets for hippos and rhinoceros. From the first platform tourists can see how this big creatures are laying in the shadow. Then the focus is on the different bird species that have built their nests in a special façade holes on the first and second terrace. The last platform is for flamingos. There is designed a water element that can attract their attention and lead this colorful birds to the tower. Visitors are invited to feel the natural surrounding with every senses.
The overall design is intended to retain ecological charm, so only recyclable materials are used. The structure is made from recyclable steel and wood, so after its lifetime or in need to realocating the structure to another location it can be easily disassembled.
