Willamette Pool House is a modern riverside retreat in Oregon, seamlessly blending indoor-outdoor living with natural materials and stunning views.
Luxury Pool House Overlooking the Willamette River
Perched on a scenic bluff above the Willamette River in Newberg, Oregon, the Willamette Pool House by Fieldwork Design and Architecture is a contemporary retreat that seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor living. Designed to complement the property's main residence, this architectural masterpiece offers breathtaking river views while providing an elegant space for relaxation and entertainment.

Architectural Concept and Design
The Willamette Pool House is positioned west of the primary residence, functioning as an extension of the outdoor amenities. The structure serves as a support space for the new pool and spa, featuring:
- A lounge area for relaxation
- A fully equipped kitchenette
- A changing room and steam shower
- A modern bathroom
- A dedicated pool equipment room
Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors seamlessly connect the interior to a covered patio, which includes an outdoor kitchen and dining area. This architectural approach creates a fluid transition between the built environment and the surrounding natural landscape.

Material Selection and Sustainability
The material palette of the Willamette Pool House harmonizes with the main house, featuring:
- Natural plaster walls for a refined yet organic aesthetic
- Dark metal trim that adds a contemporary contrast
- A ceiling crafted from locally sourced Oregon White Oak, extending outward to form a metal slat sunscreen
These elements work together to enhance the interplay between light and shadow while maintaining visual continuity between the interior and exterior spaces.

Natural Light and Indoor Ambiance
Strategically placed skylights flood the steam shower and custom concrete sink with natural light, creating an inviting and spa-like atmosphere. The interplay of tile, metal, and wood enhances the overall warmth and textural depth of the space.

A Harmonious Connection with Nature
The Willamette Pool House embodies the essence of Pacific Northwest architecture, blending modern design with the surrounding landscape. Its open-plan concept, natural materials, and strategic site placement create a tranquil retreat that celebrates the beauty of its riverside setting while offering a luxurious and functional extension to the main home.
This project exemplifies the balance between sophisticated design and the serene outdoor environment, making it a stunning addition to Oregon’s architectural landscape.
