Atelier Macri Concept Store Interior Design by CASE-REAL
Atelier Macri store features a "ko" counter, walnut wood details, cork displays, blending retail, gallery, and seamless customer experiences.
Nestled in Japan, the Atelier Macri store is a 82 m² boutique that redefines retail interior design through its innovative use of space, materials, and functional furniture. Completed in 2022 by CASE-REAL, this project merges a concept store for glasses and perfumes with an integrated gallery, creating a seamless shopping experience that balances aesthetics and practicality.

Innovative Spatial Planning with the "Ko" Counter
A central feature of the store is the custom "ko(コ)" character-shaped counter, designed to unify the irregular interior layout. The space originally had a protruding concrete wall that naturally divided the front and back areas, presenting a challenge for a cohesive customer flow. By embracing this feature, CASE-REAL designed the "ko" counter to surround the wall, consolidating multiple store functions—including customer service, eye examinations, and storage—into one elegant and functional piece. This design not only maximizes spatial efficiency but also enhances the visual rhythm of the interior.

Materiality and Craftsmanship
The "ko" counter is crafted from rich walnut wood with a glossy finish, combining modernity with classic elegance. Armrest details evoke the familiarity of a traditional bar counter, inviting visitors to linger and experience the store at a relaxed pace. Surrounding display shelves incorporate dyed cork surfaces, providing a safe and tactile environment for delicate products such as glasses and perfumes, while also introducing warmth and texture to the interior.

Harmonious Integration of Retail and Gallery Spaces
The interior design successfully integrates retail and gallery functions, allowing customers to move effortlessly between browsing, testing, and discovering curated products. Lighting by Modulex Inc. highlights both merchandise and architectural features, enhancing the overall spatial atmosphere. The project demonstrates a careful balance between functional retail requirements and the aesthetic qualities of a gallery-like environment

Atelier Macri by CASE-REAL exemplifies how thoughtful interior design can transform a compact, irregular retail space into a functional, welcoming, and visually compelling environment. By integrating bespoke furniture, premium materials, and clever spatial planning, the store delivers a unique experiential journey for every visitor.
