Brewed: A Cafe Racer Haven in Brasilia
Blending architectural narrative with mixed-use design to create a unique social hub for motorcycle enthusiasts.
"Brewed," designed by Tianrui Fan and Yuchen Liu, envisions a cafe racer club nestled within the urban fabric of Brasilia. This project, the People's Choice Award winner in the Brewed competition, goes beyond a typical cafe by crafting a narrative-driven architectural experience that celebrates motorcycle culture, community, and the unique spirit of the city.

Design Concept: A Narrative of Freedom and Romance
The architects weave a compelling narrative throughout the design, drawing inspiration from the freedom, romance, and vibrant city life associated with cafe racer culture. This narrative is expressed through the building's form, materiality, and spatial organization, creating a multi-layered experience that resonates with both motorcycle enthusiasts and casual visitors.

Architectural Features and Design Elements
Mixed-Use Approach: The project embraces a mixed-use approach, incorporating a cafe, motorcycle club, retail space, and outdoor gathering areas. This creates a dynamic and vibrant social hub that caters to a diverse range of activities and interests.
Cafe Racer Aesthetics: The building's design draws inspiration from the sleek and minimalist aesthetics of cafe racer motorcycles. Clean lines, exposed materials, and a focus on functionality define the architectural language, creating a space that feels both modern and timeless.
Outdoor Terrace: A prominent outdoor terrace overlooks the cityscape, providing a space for patrons to enjoy their coffee, socialize, and admire the views. This terrace becomes a focal point for the cafe racer community, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared passion.
Motorcycle Parking and Display: Dedicated motorcycle parking areas are integrated into the design, showcasing the motorcycles as objects of admiration and celebrating their role in the cafe racer culture.
Retail Space for Motorcycle Supplies: The inclusion of a retail space for motorcycle apparel and accessories further reinforces the project's focus on catering to the needs and interests of the cafe racer community.
Night Locomotive Club: The "Night Locomotive Club" within the building provides a dedicated space for motorcycle enthusiasts to gather, socialize, and share their passion for cafe racers. This space becomes a hub for events, workshops, and informal gatherings.
Interior Design: Blending Industrial and Rustic: The interior design blends industrial elements, such as exposed brick and metalwork, with rustic touches, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. This aesthetic complements the cafe racer aesthetic while also fostering a sense of comfort and familiarity.

Blending with Brasilia's Urban Fabric
The location in Brasilia is carefully considered. The architects sought to create a design that complements the city's modernist architecture while also establishing a unique identity. The building's clean lines and minimalist aesthetic echo the principles of Brazilian modernism, while its focus on motorcycle culture adds a distinct layer to the urban fabric.

"Brewed" represents a successful fusion of architectural narrative, mixed-use design, and cafe racer culture. By creating a space that celebrates freedom, community, and the unique spirit of Brasilia, the architects have designed a destination that resonates with both motorcycle enthusiasts and those seeking a vibrant and engaging social experience. This project demonstrates the power of architecture to tell stories, foster community, and contribute to the cultural richness of a city.
