Bro Copenhagen, designed by Eric Liew, redefines sustainable bridge architecture by transforming a functional river crossing into a vibrant public space rooted in Danish identity. More than a connector between two riverbanks, the bridge becomes a civic destination: a cultural landmark that celebrates Copenhagen’s cycling culture, maritime heritage, and the philosophy of hygge.

Strategically positioned at the heart of Copenhagen, the bridge acts as an urban catalyst. It strengthens pedestrian and cycling networks while creating an experiential space that encourages gathering, interaction, and reflection. The project demonstrates how contemporary architecture can integrate infrastructure, sustainability, and cultural storytelling into a single cohesive form.

Bro Copenhagen functions as a shared walk-cycle bridge, linking both sides of the riverbanks while reducing dependency on cars. By reallocating urban space to cyclists and pedestrians, the design supports lower carbon emissions, promotes physical and mental well-being, and enhances spatial efficiency.

The bridge integrates:

The system balances constant pedestrian and cycling flow with maritime traffic without compromising safety or comfort.
