Corner House by DADA Partners – Contemporary Sustainable Residential Design in New Delhi
Corner House by DADA Partners is a contemporary, sustainable New Delhi residence featuring timber accents, courtyards, passive design, and seamless indoor-outdoor living.
A Corner Statement in Residential Architecture
Situated on a prominent corner in a prime suburban neighborhood, Corner House by DADA Partners redefines contemporary residential architecture through its multiple frontages. Designed to be both experiential and contextually sensitive, the house engages with the streetscape on three sides, creating a dynamic interplay between interior and exterior spaces.

Innovative Entrance and Formal Spaces
The residence welcomes visitors with a seemingly conventional entrance, soon revealing a cantilevered timber-clad wall suspended over a reflective pool. This wall, forming an inverted L, creates a shaded portico that filters morning sunlight into the formal foyer. The ground-floor design revolves around a central courtyard, visually expanding the interior while separating formal and informal zones. The formal area opens to a verandah connecting the front lawn with the internal courtyard, incorporating a fireplace in the covered gallery for memorable gatherings and indoor-outdoor living.

Informal Living and Private Gardens
The rear of the house is dedicated to informal living, with an open-plan kitchen, dining, and lounge space that opens to south-facing private gardens. These areas receive abundant winter sunlight, enhancing warmth and comfort. The master bedroom suite features dual orientations, with a fully glazed lounge facing the internal courtyard and the bedroom overlooking the garden, balancing privacy with a strong connection to nature.

First-Floor Bedrooms and Multi-Purpose Pavilion
The first floor includes four additional bedrooms, including a north-oriented master suite with a private balcony overlooking the courtyard. Above the ground floor’s formal space, a fully glazed pavilion serves as a versatile multi-purpose area, connecting the interior volumes while providing panoramic views of the landscaped surroundings.

Sustainable Design and Passive Strategies
Corner House integrates passive design principles, including solar orientation, strategic window placement, and cross-ventilation. The west-facing ground floor maintains solid walls for privacy, while a wraparound timber louver system provides solar control, forming a self-shading facade without the need for artificial sun protection. Key living spaces are oriented north, minimizing east and west-facing openings to optimize energy efficiency and indoor comfort.

Landscape and Materiality
The integration of landscaped courtyards, reflective pools, and timber accents establishes a seamless relationship between built form and outdoor spaces, embodying a contemporary yet environmentally responsive residential design.
