CPH Smart Harbour
Our proposal is design a new harbour in the site. The Smart Harbour is a base for new experiential library and public space.
We believe that the new learning place in 2023 no longer needs books. Paper books have good scents, textures, and tastes. However, there are disadvantages in designing a library. For example, problems such as sunshine and humidity. Paper books also take up space and are heavy. Furthermore, in modern times, reading books on smartphones is popular. After all, if you think about the next generation of Athenaeum, you don't need a paper book. Therefore, I focused on digital books. By incorporating the e-book, we were able to remove all the bookshelves from the design proposed this time. This digital book is only available to visitors to this location. Since you don't need paper books, you can create free designs that don't have the problems of sunlight and humidity like traditional library designs. I am assuming that I will board a ship to this place. The ship arrives directly at this building. The circular opening on the roof of this building illuminates the arriving ship. You can easily visit by boat, acquire knowledge with e-books, enjoy your leisure time, and experience various things. This compact and unique "smart harbor" is the new road for Athenaeum in 2023.
Compact and unique is not only the experience here, but also the appearance. Composed of just two plates, this piece contains a smartness not found in traditional architecture. This plate also has a unique silhouette and stunning curvaceous beauty. This unique silhouette was discovered in the process of elucidating the history of Copenhagen. It's a good shape for a new learning place in Copenhagen. In addition, this design adopted the reverse method of making a box by removing the space from one plate instead of the conventional method of making a box. This could be one way to convey the message of architectural evolution to visitors. Rooms created in this way have functions such as cafes, study rooms, offices and toilets. In addition, this space has a megaphone opening. This creates a variety of ways in which light enters and gives visitors a comfortable time.
6 meanings
When we examined Copenhagen, we noticed that today Copenhagen consists of five regions.
The first is norrebro
The second is osterbro
The third is amagerbro
The fourth is vesterbro
Fifth is Fredericksburg
Is. In addition, these five regions have distinctive characteristics.
Nerobro is culture, Osterbro is medical, Amagerbro is entertainment, vesterbro is exercise, and Frederik is natural.
Here, we have given Athenaeum a feature that will be the sixth in 2023.
The name of the sixth possible area was named Smart Harbor. One of the characteristics is learning, and this area will become a learning area in 2023.
In Denmark, there is a rune character that has been used for a long time, and it was used for architecture. The character used from the runes this time is j (Yara).
Yarra has the meaning of a one-year cycle, the god of the earth, and the one-year harvest. Because of this meaning, the one-year cycle means migratory properties in Athenaeum. In addition, we linked the harvest obtained from small stacks day by day with daily growth.
Since it is migratory, it can be circulated from two points connected by a structure. In addition, there is a change in the scenery that can be seen by patrolling, and in the place of the sun, it is possible to foster various activities such as crowding with a large number of people, interacting with friends, and sunbathing. It can be used by people who want to study personally or take a break in a shaded place. In addition, a new land was created by building this Athenaeum in a place on the sea where there is no land. It also has the meaning of expressing j (Yara) in the sense of the god of the earth.
The "Harbor", titled "Smart harbor," comes from the history of Copenhagen once being referred to as the "port of merchants." When this "harbor" we propose functions as a new port of knowledge in Copenhagen, the new Athenaeum we envision in 2023 will be completed.
