Der Öschberghof Hotel Expansion by allmannwappner – Luxury Golf Resort Architecture in Donaueschingen, Germany
Der Öschberghof Hotel in Germany combines luxury, traditional architecture, and modern design, featuring spa, golf, terraces, and 125 elegant rooms.
Der Öschberghof Hotel, a prestigious five-star superior golf and spa resort located in Donaueschingen, Germany, underwent a masterful architectural expansion by allmannwappner. Completed in 2019, this extensive renovation and extension project spans 34,979 m², transforming the resort into a modern luxury destination while preserving its regional heritage and integrating seamlessly into the surrounding landscape.

The design approach was rooted in a deep respect for traditional rural architecture, characterized by pitched roofs and clustered building arrangements. The architects carefully blended existing structures with new volumes, creating a rhythmic, staggered layout that enhances both scale and accessibility. By remodeling and optimizing the resort’s logistics during ongoing hotel operations, the team ensured a smooth operational flow while upgrading guest experience.

Key elements of the expansion include a new entrance hall, a state-of-the-art conference center, an expanded spa and wellness area, and 125 newly-appointed guest rooms, all designed to harmonize with the natural surroundings. Open terraces, landscaped courtyards, and interconnected walkways foster a sense of continuity between built and natural environments. The interplay of private and communal spaces provides an intuitive flow throughout the resort.

Materials and forms were selected to respect the region’s heritage while creating a contemporary and luxurious aesthetic. The staggered arrangement of buildings and terraces accentuates the relationship between the hotel complex and its scenic environment, offering guests a visually engaging and serene experience. Every design decision reflects the resort’s commitment to combining comfort, elegance, and sustainability, creating an architectural ensemble that is both functional and poetic.

The project highlights the importance of context-sensitive design in luxury hospitality architecture, demonstrating how modern interventions can complement traditional settings without compromising character or charm. Through careful spatial planning, sensitive integration with the landscape, and attention to detail, Der Öschberghof Hotel now stands as a model of refined luxury, architectural harmony, and guest-centric design in the Black Forest region.
