The Gonzalez Monteiro House, designed by Alvorada Arquitetos, is a beautifully renovated urban townhouse in São Paulo that merges tradition with contemporary living. Exterior Design

The façade respects the scale and rhythm of surrounding houses, creating visual harmony through neutral tones and carefully selected materials. Subtle interventions maintain the building’s connection to its urban context while signaling a fresh identity. Exposed metal beams and stripped brick evoke the original structural system, offering a tactile sense of history and authenticity.

Interior Transformation

The interior design embraces light, calm colors, and a minimalist approach to space planning. The previously dark and divided ground floor now features a spacious, continuous hall that is naturally ventilated and filled with daylight. This open layout enhances circulation and fosters a sense of connectivity among family members.

The kitchen is designed to capture the morning sun, while artificial lighting at night creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. At the rear annex, a vibrant combination of hydraulic tiles animates the cooking and entertaining space, merging functionality with aesthetic playfulness.

Architectural Philosophy

Every design decision in the Gonzalez Monteiro House emphasizes the relationship between structure, light, and daily life. By revealing structural elements and integrating open, flexible spaces, the home encourages new routines, interactions, and family experiences. This renovation demonstrates how architecture can transform both space and the way life unfolds within it.
