Hope House by Cierto Estudio
Hope House is a colorful, context-sensitive renovation blending original geometry, natural materials, and vibrant character with lush outdoor spaces.
A Joyful Restoration Rooted in Color and Context
Nestled in the lush neighborhood of La Floresta, Spain, Hope House by Cierto Estudio is a sensitive and joyful renovation of a 1988 home originally designed by architect Antoni Roselló Til. Instead of altering the structural layout, this architectural intervention focuses on strategic enhancements, bringing new life to the dwelling through color, materiality, and outdoor connectivity, while staying true to the home's original geometries and spirit.

Respecting the Original while Inviting the New
Cierto Estudio approached the project like architectural acupuncture—targeted yet transformative. The existing layout remained intact, maintaining Roselló Til’s spatial logic and iconic geometric gestures. However, the architects activated new relationships between spaces using contrasting colors and carefully curated materials that both honor and evolvethe original language of the house.

Color as a Narrative Tool
Color plays a central role in this transformation. Inspired by the home's original black and tiled flooring, the design introduces a playful yet grounded palette: pinks and greens that reflect the personalities of its new inhabitants—Sergio, Katie, and their daughter Hope. These hues create visual rhythms and emotional connections across the home, establishing a strong identity without overwhelming the architecture.

Tactile Materiality and Thoughtful Continuity
Materials in Hope House are selected with respect and restraint. Original black ceramic tiles continue from the living room into the kitchen, reinforcing spatial unity. In contrast, soft brown carpeting in the bedrooms brings warmth, comfort, and a sense of domestic intimacy, encouraging barefoot play and quietude.

Custom interventions like tramex mesh shelving and mosaic bathroom tiles create continuity with the original textures and finishes. The use of simple, durable, and expressive materials allows the home to feel both contemporary and timeless.

Enhancing Connection with Nature
The renovation enhances the home’s connection to nature by opening selected windows and preserving the original façade composition, allowing in more light and framing views of the garden, patio, and surrounding hills. The outdoor area is revitalized through a landscape redesign that includes:
- A biological pool using aquatic plants for natural filtration
- A reimagined pergola pavilion with open structural elements
- A circular lawn surrounded by lush perimeter vegetation

These interventions mirror the home’s geometry and foster a seamless indoor-outdoor dialogue, creating a refuge that feels integrated with its site.
A Home of Joy, Play, and Purpose
Hope House is more than a renovation—it’s a celebration of architectural legacy and contemporary life. By weaving together original intent, user identity, and material joy, Cierto Estudio has created a space that radiates energy, warmth, and personal meaning. Through its playful use of color, minimalist gestures, and environmental awareness, the home becomes a canvas for living, dreaming, and growing.
