Innovating Retail Spaces: The Architectural Marvel by dongqi Design for "lost in echo"
Dongqi Design's architectural marvel transforms Shanghai retail with innovative, dynamic spaces for 'Lost in Echo' brand
In the bustling heart of Shanghai's Anfu Road, dongqi Design has masterfully redefined retail space on the first floor of an old building, creating an innovative and dynamic environment for the brand "lost in echo." This architectural transformation, completed in 2023, introduces a paradigm shift in retail design with its flexible and visually captivating elements.
Triangular Prism Structures: A Unique Design Approach
The focal point of this architectural marvel lies in the introduction of rotatable mechanical triangular prism structures. Carefully designed to diminish the presence of existing columns, these prisms are not just functional but a visual spectacle. Divided into three parts, each prism section can be rotated independently, offering a myriad of combinations to suit diverse scenarios.

Fluidity and Novelty in Design
The design challenges conventional notions of functional space by seamlessly shifting between fluid, unrestrained layouts and orderly rectangular arrangements. The movement of the prisms guides the flow of people, continuously redefining interior spatial relationships. The reflective surfaces of the prisms, particularly the top and bottom sections, enhance the illusion of floating mechanical arms, creating an ambiance of "lost."

Facade: Blurring Boundaries Between Inside and Outside
The folding doors, mirroring the proportions of the prisms, play a crucial role in connecting the interior with the exterior. The top and bottom mirror-finished stainless steel reflects the surroundings, while the middle glass portion draws customers in. The result is a collage of interweaving scenes, capturing glimpses of street life and creating a seamless transition between the store and the vibrant street scene.

Merchandising Visualization and Flexibility
Dongyi Design takes retail merchandising to new heights by integrating merchandise supports that hook into horizontal slots on the rotatable prisms. This ingenious system allows for free movement of merchandise displays, providing a flexible and visually engaging experience for customers. The space is meticulously calibrated for retail, exhibition, and public or private events.

Materials and Aesthetics
Consistent gray tones with varied handmade finishings enclose the interior space, offering subtle changes in textures. The brand's signature purple at the glass cashier counter stands out against the refined tactility of the gray ambiance. Specially designed mirror-covered spaces and fillet corners on side walls contribute to a relaxing and light ambiance.

As customers step into the "lost in echo" store on Anfu Road, they are immersed in a spatial experience that transcends conventional retail design. The innovative use of rotatable prisms, fluid layouts, and a seamless blend of interior and exterior spaces redefine the boundaries of retail architecture. dongqi Design's creation not only reflects the brand's name but also sets a new standard for innovative retail space design, inviting customers to get "lost in the echo" of endless reflections and movements.
