The Need for Space Settlement

Since the Industrial Revolution, rapid scientific and technological progress has profoundly impacted the Earth. While advancements have brought convenience and growth, they have also led to significant ecological challenges, including the sixth extinction period. Theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking emphasized the urgency of finding an alternative habitat for humans to ensure the survival of our species. New Houston addresses this need by providing a pathway to interstellar living.

1. Multi-Layer System Design

  • Scientific Layer: Positioned as the outermost layer, it serves as a shield and facilitates the exploration of outer space. Equipped with 4D printing technology, this layer ensures the transportation and observation of cosmic activities.
  • Residential Layer: Hosting a range of public spaces for culture, education, and entertainment, this layer meets the social and psychological needs of humans adapting to space life.
  • Industrial Layer: Converts stellar energy into electricity and supports the operations of New Houston. This layer also processes asteroids as building materials for sustainability.
  • Energy Layer: Featuring a nuclear fusion reactor, it transforms captured asteroid energy into daily operational power.
