Light House by Delton Leandro Arquitetura – A Coastal Retreat Blending Nature, Light, and Serenity
Light House in Bahia blends modern design with nature, featuring an atrium, natural light, tropical gardens, and serene coastal views.
Perched atop the cliffs of Espelho Beach in Bahia, Brazil, the Light House (Casa da Luz) by Delton Leandro Arquitetura is a stunning architectural retreat that harmonizes local culture with contemporary design. Completed in 2022, this 678 m² residence is more than just a house—it is a sanctuary where architecture, light, and nature converge seamlessly.

A Dialogue Between Landscape and Architecture
The Light House stands as a refined example of architectural symbiosis, carefully balancing modern elegance with the ecological richness of Bahia. Built in interconnected blocks surrounding a central atrium, the design ensures the preservation of native vegetation while respecting the site’s natural topography. Subtle stone walls and terraces gently adapt the construction to the terrain, creating a home that feels organically rooted in the coastal landscape.

The Heart of the Home – An Atrium Inspired by Japanese Gardens
At the core of the residence lies a breathtaking atrium, designed as a reinterpretation of an oriental garden with a Bahian soul. Featuring a sand patio, a flamboyant tree, wooden decks, and biriba pivoting panels reminiscent of Japanese screens, the atrium becomes a spiritual and visual centerpiece. It connects every space of the house—offering a constant dialogue between light, shadow, and nature.

Light as the Main Protagonist
As its name suggests, light defines the architecture of the house. Natural illumination enters through glass enclosures, sliding doors, and biriba screens, shifting throughout the day to create ever-changing patterns of brightness and shadow. Whether in the corridors, living spaces, or bedrooms, the play of natural light brings a sense of calmness and ephemeral beauty to daily life.

Social and Private Spaces in Harmony
The central social block opens completely to the atrium, gourmet terrace, pool, and jacuzzi, allowing indoor and outdoor living to merge effortlessly. Expansive glass walls blur boundaries between spaces, fostering an atmosphere of openness and freedom.
The private suites, oriented toward the sunrise, frame serene views of the surrounding native forest. In the morning, soft daylight filters through the trees, filling each room with tranquility. Bathrooms combine modern amenities with natural stone walls and private gardens, providing a spa-like retreat infused with nature.

A Spiritual Dimension
The design incorporates subtle elements of Bahian religious syncretism, with small oratories integrated near each suite and a chapel at the back of the property. This spiritual layer enriches the architectural narrative, turning the Light House into a place for both introspection and celebration of life.

A Coastal Haven of Elegance and Tranquility
From its wooden pergolas and lush tropical gardens to its play of light and symbolic details, the Light House embodies a seamless connection between architecture, spirituality, and the Brazilian landscape. It is a residence that captures the essence of Bahia—warm, serene, and deeply attuned to its natural surroundings.
