Mogos Scout School Headquarters: A Fusion of Heritage and Sustainable Design
A sustainable restoration blending historic preservation with modular timber construction, optimizing energy efficiency, circular design, and eco-friendly materials.
The rehabilitation of the Mogos Scout School Headquarters showcases a seamless blend of historic preservation and sustainable architecture. This project, led by Cossement-Cardoso Architects, revitalizes an aging structure while integrating modern eco-friendly solutions.

Adaptive Reuse with Sustainable Materials
Preserving the historical essence of the original building, the renovation introduced natural lighting, passive ventilation, and energy-efficient materials to enhance comfort and functionality. The transformed space now serves as a versatile hub for scout activities, demonstrating the potential of adaptive reuse in architecture.

Modular Wooden Locker Room: A Low-Impact Approach
Complementing the restored structure, a prefabricated modular locker room was designed for flexibility and sustainability. Built with locally sourced timber, this addition prioritizes low-carbon construction, ensuring minimal environmental impact while allowing for future scalability. The wooden framework enhances thermal efficiency, reducing energy demands and promoting a more eco-conscious built environment.

Sustainability and Contextual Integration
By incorporating circular construction methods, bioclimatic design strategies, and recyclable materials, the project stands as a model for sustainable community architecture. It strikes a balance between historic conservation and contemporary green building principles, reinforcing the importance of contextual and environmentally responsible design.

A Vision for the Future
The Mogos Scout School Headquarters is more than a restoration project—it's a blueprint for sustainable heritage conservation. By blending traditional architecture with modern ecological solutions, this initiative sets a precedent for future community-driven, low-impact developments.
