Muda Building Weefor by NNArq: A Landmark in Sustainable Urban Living
Muda Building Weefor by NNArq blends sustainability, urban integration, and flexible living spaces, redefining modern residential architecture in Curitiba, Brazil.
A Fusion of Architecture, Sustainability, and Community
Located in Curitiba, Brazil—a city celebrated for its urban planning and green spaces—Muda Building Weefor by NNArq redefines modern residential architecture. Situated in the Água Verde neighborhood, known for its tree-lined streets and spacious gardens, this project transforms a former metallurgical substation into a sustainable, community-integrated living space.

Innovative Design Through Architectural Competition
To ensure the highest design standards, the developer launched a nationwide architectural competition, an uncommon yet forward-thinking approach in the Brazilian real estate market. The winning concept by Beatriz Froes Nachtergaele and Baldomero Navarro of NNArq embraces open, flexible layouts that seamlessly connect private residences with the surrounding urban landscape.
With 52 residential units offering 1, 2, and 3-bedroom configurations, the design prioritizes spatial fluidity and natural light. Parallel programmatic strips—balconies, long-term living areas, and short-term spaces—enhance adaptability, while the corner plot introduces unique volumetric variations along Rua Pará.

Blending Private and Public Spaces
Muda Building Weefor fosters a strong connection with its surroundings through an integrated architectural approach:
Landscaping with native trees preserves the greenery characteristic of the neighborhood’s historic homes.
Partially excavated garage levels open into an interior garden, maximizing natural light and ventilation.
First-floor co-working and library spaces promote a mixed-use urban experience, enhancing engagement with residents and visitors.
Translucent tile-clad corridors create a dynamic visual identity, allowing light diffusion while maintaining privacy.

Sustainability and Architectural Identity
The building’s exposed concrete structure—with plywood formwork on slabs and beams—echoes a raw, industrial aesthetic. The rooftop garden repurposes glass insulators from the former substation, offering a symbolic nod to the site’s industrial past while embracing circular construction principles.
At the top, shared amenities include:
A spacious lounge for events
A children’s play area
A communal laundry facility
A sky garden with panoramic city views

A New Urban Living Experience
Muda Building Weefor stands as a benchmark for contemporary residential architecture—one that values sustainability, urban integration, and architectural excellence. By bridging the past with the future, NNArq creates not just homes but an ecosystem of living, working, and connecting.
