Sustainable Architectural Memorial: Redefining the Life Cycle
Honoring the past, embracing sustainability—where memory and nature unite in a timeless architectural cycle.
Concept and Vision
This groundbreaking sustainable architecture project "SIN O "reimagines memorial spaces, integrating eco-conscious design principles with cultural heritage. Designed by Shee Yee Ng and Meixin Lin, this innovative concept transforms excc vccccdsaremembrance into an evolving, dynamic experience through mathematical models and fluid, organic forms.

Circular and Sustainable Design
Inspired by the sine function and discrete models, this project establishes a movable circular piping system that seamlessly integrates above-ground and underground spaces. The framework extends to create a resting place for the departed, with a carefully structured environment fostering a multi-dimensional, non-interfering space for memory and reflection.
Site Plan and Spatial Experience
The architectural design embraces the biophilic approach, incorporating green landscapes and water features that enhance the connection between visitors and nature. The memorial structure, with its circular form and spiral elements, enables a seamless transition between prayer spaces, memory chambers, and interactive pathways.
Key Features:
- Multi-level underground prayer and memory spaces
- Sustainable material use and eco-friendly memorial solutions
- Integration of water and greenery to symbolize eternal life
- Glass spheres functioning as ashes storage units
Sustainable Memorial and Circulation of Memory
This project pioneers a biodegradable memory system, where the ashes of the deceased contribute to fertilization and plant growth. Over time, glass spheres carrying the ashes degrade naturally, merging with the earth in a sustainable cycle.
Additionally, the system ensures scalability, accommodating future needs by continuously replacing spheres while preserving the essence of eternal remembrance.

Inclusivity in Design
The design promotes inclusivity by integrating ashes of individuals from diverse religions, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds. This ensures participation in a universal circulation system, emphasizing unity beyond physical existence.
By blending sustainable architecture, biophilic design, and memorial innovation, this project redefines how we approach the concept of memory and remembrance. The harmonious integration of nature and architecture ensures that the life cycle is not only respected but celebrated.
