The Good House by Rodrigo Vilas Boas Arquitetos
The Good House by Rodrigo Vilas Boas Arquitetos is a contemporary hillside residence in Brazil, blending panoramic views, natural materials, and privacy.
The Good House, also known as Casa O Bem, is a masterfully designed contemporary residence that harmoniously integrates with its steeply sloped 46,700 m² (153,215 sq. ft.) site in Serra das Cabras, Campinas. Designed by Rodrigo Vilas Boas Arquitetos, the home prioritizes panoramic views, privacy, and natural integration, offering an architectural dialogue between modern design and the surrounding landscape.

Design Concept Situated on a dramatic slope, the project focuses on preserving and enhancing its breathtaking views of nature, while respecting privacy for both the residents and the surrounding neighborhood. The house is carefully composed with full and empty spaces, ensuring unobstructed vistas in every room. With only a single visible pillar, the design minimizes interference with the landscape, creating a seamless connection between interior and exterior spaces.

Architecture & Materials The two-level structure is thoughtfully aligned to the sun, wind, and topography, optimizing natural ventilation and daylight. The gourmet area, positioned at the upper level, ensures airflow from the south wind while offering protection from rain and direct sunlight. The entrance hall frames the panoramic horizon, welcoming residents and guests to experience the beauty of preserved nature from the very first step inside.
Raw, natural materials were emphasized throughout the project to enhance the connection to the surrounding landscape:
- Crude Roman travertine for elegance and texture
- Riped cumaru wood in interiors for warmth
- Moledo stone for durability
- Riped concrete as an ode to natural simplicity
These materials blend seamlessly with the landscape, creating a contemporary yet organic aesthetic that celebrates sustainability, nature, and modern architecture.

Interior Experience Designed for a family, the interiors focus on integrated living spaces that enhance daily experiences and encourage social interaction. Open-plan living, dining, and kitchen areas allow residents to enjoy unobstructed views while maintaining privacy. Every detail of the interior has been carefully curated to maximize comfort, functionality, and connection to nature.
The Good House stands as a celebration of life, nature, and thoughtful design. Its name, Casa O Bem (“House the Good”), reflects the gratitude of its client for the surrounding landscape and the joy of living within it. This residence exemplifies the perfect blend of contemporary architecture, sustainable design, and panoramic integration with nature.
