V31 Penthouse Amsterdam: A Contemporary Luxury Retreat by zU-studio
Luxurious V31 Penthouse in Amsterdam combines bespoke design, marble interiors, natural light, and serene urban living for ultimate comfort.
Located on the iconic Vondelstraat in Amsterdam, overlooking the serene Vondelpark, the V31 Penthouse by zU-studio redefines urban luxury living. Completed in 2023, this 220 m² residence is a masterclass in spatial clarity, material sophistication, and bespoke design, blending functionality with aesthetic elegance.

Innovative Spatial Design and Volume
V31 Penthouse exemplifies a new understanding of space and volume. The architects, Javier Zubiria and Pierre Wizman of zU-studio, envisioned a home that fosters calmness, introspection, and social connection. Every area of the penthouse flows seamlessly into the next, offering diverse sequences and visual relationships that make the space feel expansive and cohesive. Natural light floods the interiors through strategically placed skylights, enhancing the experience of each carefully curated room.

Custom Craftsmanship and Materials
Central to V31 Penthouse’s identity is the celebration of noble materials. Every detail, from furniture to structural elements, is custom-made, creating a timeless and sophisticated aesthetic. Highlights include long, low steel platforms extending from the library, acting as coffee tables and observation points to enjoy the central staircase and skylight above. The interiors feature sculptural marble, solid wooden beams, and pure natural stone finishes, ensuring an elegant yet cozy atmosphere that responds to Amsterdam’s distinctive grey skies and weather.

Two-Level Layout and Central Amphitheater
The penthouse spans two floors, connected by a striking amphitheater-like staircase. This central architectural element doubles as a functional furniture piece for relaxation, viewing performances, or hosting gatherings. Beneath its sculptural form rests a Japanese tree, introducing a serene natural element into the home. The amphitheater is positioned opposite a steel library, emphasizing the interplay between functionality and aesthetic beauty.

Living Areas and Kitchen Design
The upper floor features an open-plan living space, with a custom statuary marble kitchen serving as the centerpiece. Its elegant form dialogues with a carefully designed fireplace, establishing a warm, inviting atmosphere. A modular sofa complements a panoramic wooden bench beneath expansive windows, integrating contemporary furniture into a cohesive design narrative. Minimalist off-white ceilings with solid wooden beams reveal the roof’s structural order while maintaining a sense of calm simplicity.

Private Bedrooms and Wellness Spaces
The first floor accommodates three bedrooms, with the master suite offering generous proportions and direct connection to a sculptural bathroom. Here, a bespoke marble bathtub, dual showers, and a Scandinavian-inspired sauna create a luxurious personal retreat. Natural materials, warm lighting, and thoughtful detailing throughout the rooms provide comfort, tranquility, and a refined aesthetic.

Experiencing Day and Night
V31 Penthouse transforms with the passing hours. Daylight emphasizes serenity and connection to the surrounding cityscape, while nighttime brings a cozy, elegant ambiance through carefully positioned indirect lighting. Every corner of this residence has been designed to offer visual delight and emotional resonance, making it both a private sanctuary and a space for social interaction.
V31 Penthouse in Amsterdam is more than a residence: it is a curated experience of luxury, serenity, and bespoke architectural storytelling.
