Beyond the Aquarium

Aquarium usually talks about the ocean but we forget it’s the river that leads to the ocean. So for a country like Bangladesh, where 230 rivers are flowing all over the country, Aquarium has to be rethought completely. Cause it has to tell to the whole story not the half of it, for us to understand as a riverine country how much we are depended on rivers.

SADIKA RAHMAN ANANNA

Such a mesmerizing work .

An unique, praiseworthy and undoubtedly beautiful work! As a Bangladeshi I take pride to witness this kind of project which are unconditionally needed for the reservation of the remaining rivers in the country. Hope to experience this amazing work of talent in real life. GREAT WORK respected architectures!

Tsunami Convergenics

Tsunami Convergenics is a housing module that works with its extreme environment off the coast of Onagawa continental shelf. The housing units work inconjunction with the Onagwa Power Plant in both protecting and providing alternate energy source that is captivated through extreme wave currents of tsunamic earthquakes. The housing begins to work with its

Interesting proposal on capturing tidal energy and extreme conditions as an opportunity. The units become too isolated as there are not connecting spaces. It doesn't develop issues as food or oxygen supply. .

A beautiful idea very nicely drawn but not developed. Difficult to check how it works, how it stands, where are the living or working spaces. How they relate to endangered species. They seem to be individual units for short periods of time, not habitats.

wireless CORALPODS

Introducing wireless CORALPODS with no cables attached to the sea floor, mainland or anywhere else. Coralpods believe in a circular exchange with the existing marine ecosystem while providing an inclusive habitat. Both terrestrial (humans) and marine species can inhibit it.

Darryl Tan

Wow! Amazing! Great concept!

This project answers a lot of the requests needed for an habitat underwater. The form of the unit and of the coral pods respond to the conditions for pressure, light, movement underwater. It takes into account issues of food, oxygen or water provision. Addresses different space conditions both in a single unit and in a social level. Even though the exterior of the coral pod is not well shown in the panels, the proposal is very strong.

SUBMERSION

The project "SUBMERSION" is community based habitat which responds to the growing need for an alternative living method. Using a modular construction method allows for scalability and variety in organization and in location making it sustainable option for underwater habitation.

Begoña Fernandez-Shaw
Juror

Each dormitory space looks attractive enough but by putting together six of them, the community hub at the center becomes dark. The communal space in between units is not well solved and it doesn't have any clear larger productive area. When too many units get together it becomes too dense.

Even though the idea of connecting with nature is an interesting one, the design outcome doesn't express this interest. The habitat space is too tortuous. Works better as a unit than in connection with others. The best point is its floating condition

"Heart of the Ocean"

The main idea of the project is to combine the normally understood building structure with the power of the element into a kinetic hybrid. It aims to symbolize synergy between human activity and ocean power. The effect of this combination are two large oceanic waterfalls which appear flooding the existing object.

CLOAKED COLONIZATION

Colonizing the depths through dynamic ideas with the help of mother nature

Begoña Fernandez-Shaw

The idea of mixing with the ocean bed could be interesting. The proposal is badly presented and difficult to understand. It only addresses a single unit with no interest in a community.
