ENTEGRAMP: Bridging Traditional and Experiential Learning in Manila
Merging two educational philosophies within a dynamic architectural space.
ENTEGRAMP, designed by Zekeriya Güvenç, Bengisu Güven, Esma Türkoğlu offers a bold vision for a new kind of school in Manila, Philippines. Shortlisted in the Play ON School competition, the project tackles a critical challenge: revitalizing the traditional education system by integrating experiential learning, a concept deeply rooted in Filipino culture yet fading in modern times.

A Dualistic Approach
ENTEGRAMP's design philosophy centers on a dualistic approach, acknowledging the importance of both traditional and experiential learning. The building itself is divided into two distinct yet interconnected sections, each reflecting these different educational philosophies. The traditional learning area features a more structured layout, accommodating classrooms, a library, and administrative offices. This section draws inspiration from the existing architectural style of Manila, blending traditional and modern elements.

Experiential Learning Takes Center Stage
Contrasting the traditional section, the experiential learning area is defined by a bold, dynamic form. A series of interconnected ramps winds its way through the structure, creating a continuous flow of movement and encouraging exploration. These ramps lead to various workshops, a laboratory, and exhibition spaces, providing hands-on learning opportunities. The ramps also connect to the traditional learning area, symbolizing the integration of these two essential educational approaches.

A Playground for Discovery
ENTEGRAMP goes beyond typical classroom settings by incorporating playful elements throughout the building. Spherical structures, suspended within the framework, serve as interactive learning spaces, encouraging curiosity and stimulating imagination. These spheres, visible both inside and outside the building, become iconic elements, signifying a departure from conventional school design.

Community Integration
The school's design promotes a sense of community by incorporating a large dining hall and an adjacent open space for children, fostering social interaction and a sense of belonging. These spaces are strategically located on the ground level, accessible to both traditional and experiential learning areas, further emphasizing the interconnectedness of the two.

A Catalyst for Educational Transformation
ENTEGRAMP aims to revitalize the educational experience for Filipino children by providing a space that celebrates both traditional and experiential learning. The project's unique design, with its dynamic ramps, interactive spheres, and integrated spaces, creates a stimulating and engaging environment for exploration, discovery, and growth. By merging two distinct educational philosophies within a single structure, ENTEGRAMP sets a precedent for a new era of learning in the Philippines, fostering a generation of well-rounded individuals prepared for the challenges of the future.
