House for a Brother: Family-Centered Modern Home in Funes, Argentina
House for a Brother by Estudio STGO: modern family home in Funes, Argentina, with open-plan living, private zones, and garden connectivity.
Located in the serene neighborhood of Funes, Argentina, the House for a Brother by Estudio STGO is a thoughtfully designed modern residence that balances family life, privacy, and hospitality. Completed in 2022, this 1,150 m² home was conceived for a young couple with three children, emphasizing functional living, comfort, and spatial clarity. Photography by Ramiro Sosa captures the project’s intimate and contemporary character, highlighting its materiality and open-plan design.

Clear Zoning for Functional Living
The architects, Francisco Pomar and Lisandro Lopez, designed the house around three distinct zones, each tailored to specific family needs. This zoning strategy allows the home to function seamlessly while supporting daily routines, family interaction, and private moments.
1. Domestic and Family-Oriented Zone
The heart of the home is dedicated to family life, encompassing the kitchen, daily dining area, gallery, and garden extensions. This open-plan layout encourages visual and spatial connectivity, fostering communication and interaction among family members. Warm materials and natural light create a welcoming environment for everyday activities, making this zone the true hub of domestic life.
2. Independent and Guest Reception Area
A separate zone provides a quieter, more secluded environment designed for relaxation, study, and entertaining guests. This area includes a spacious living room and flexible spaces such as a playroom or study, ensuring that both family members and visitors enjoy comfort and privacy. Its design supports independent functioning without disrupting the central family zone.
3. Private and Internal Functioning Zone
The private section of the home includes parents’ and children’s bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, along with thoughtful outdoor expansions. These spaces offer tranquility and personal retreat within the home, integrating outdoor access to connect residents with nature while maintaining privacy.

Modern Design with Family and Community in Mind
The House for a Brother merges contemporary architecture with practical family-oriented planning. Open galleries, interconnected living spaces, and well-placed private areas allow for a natural flow between indoor and outdoor environments. Estudio STGO’s design approach emphasizes clarity, functionality, and comfort while maintaining a modern aesthetic suited to the context of a private Argentinian neighborhood.
This home exemplifies how modern family residences can balance openness and intimacy, offering spaces for connection, work, play, and rest, all within a cohesive architectural framework.
