House in Mallorca by Dom Arquitectura: Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Living in Alcudia
House in Mallorca by Dom Arquitectura blends geometric design, natural materials, and reed pergolas, creating seamless indoor-outdoor living with sunlit, airy spaces.
Nestled in the Barcarés development in northern Mallorca, the House in Mallorca by Dom Arquitectura exemplifies a refined balance between contemporary design and traditional Mediterranean architecture. Designed for both comfort and harmony with the landscape, the home occupies a flat plot and strategically maximizes sunlight, ventilation, and outdoor living.

Architectural Layout and Spatial Organization
The home’s layout is primarily situated on the ground floor, featuring interconnected living areas that include the living room, dining area, and kitchen. These spaces seamlessly extend into the outdoors, emphasizing fluidity and interaction with the surrounding garden. Two additional bedrooms and a shared bathroom are also located on this level.
The first floor is reserved for the master suite, which boasts a private terrace and en-suite bathroom, offering privacy and panoramic views of the lush garden below. The careful zoning of public and private spaces ensures functionality without compromising the home’s open, airy feel.

Design Concept and Outdoor Integration
The architectural design revolves around two main bays, with an intermediate courtyard open to the southeast that floods the heart of the home with natural light. This courtyard acts as a central connector between the interior kitchen and protected exterior spaces. The first floor occupies only one bay, leaving room for a small terrace at the end, fostering intimacy while maintaining an open connection to the surroundings.
The house features three semi-covered porches supported by light iron structures and reed screens. These porches create transitional outdoor spaces, providing sun and shade while establishing distinct zones for relaxation, dining, and social interaction.

Materials and Construction
Dom Arquitectura’s design emphasizes local materials and traditional Mallorcan craftsmanship. The house is constructed with concrete frames, pillars, and one-way slabs, complemented by handcrafted ceramic blocks. The façade is painted in earthy tones inspired by local stone, and marés stone cladding enhances the connection to Mallorca’s architectural heritage.
The combination of rectangular geometric volumes and natural reed pergolas creates a visually appealing interplay of sunlight and shadows. Metal pergolas covered in reed filter light, offering cool shaded areas and reinforcing the home’s sustainable design principles.

Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Connection
One of the most striking features of this Mallorca residence is its blurring of interior and exterior spaces. Folding kitchen windows open directly to the reed pergola, while living and dining areas extend effortlessly into the garden. The result is a continuous, light-filled environment where interior comfort and outdoor serenity coexist in harmony.
