Integrating Architecture with Nature

The project site features a lush green landscape dominated by a southwestern grove of mature trees, which dictated the park’s overall character. RS+ Robert Skitek carefully aligned the main entrances and designated functional zones to minimize disruption to the existing trees, preserving the natural beauty of the area. The park’s design merges landscape architecture and recreational design, balancing open spaces with wooded zones to create a dynamic, yet tranquil environment.

The water playgrounds and outdoor stage are located on the eastern side of the park, in areas with lower greenery, while wooden pathways and floating squares weave through the western, more forested section. These elevated wooden paths meander between the trees, offering visitors an immersive experience in nature. The main water playground is partially raised, allowing slides to integrate smoothly into the terrain, creating a playful yet harmonious landscape.

Zoning for Activity and Tranquility

RS+ Robert Skitek divided the park into two distinct zones.

  1. Active Zone: This vibrant section includes the water playgrounds and an outdoor stage, ideal for cultural events, performances, and small-scale community gatherings. Designed for children and families, the water features incorporate playful, colorful elements that contrast with the subdued gray-and-white palette of the surrounding structures.
  2. Forest Zone: The quieter, more contemplative area of the park offers shaded benches, meeting spots, and a small integration playground. The forest zone invites relaxation, social interaction, and connection with nature, ensuring that every visitor can choose their preferred type of park experience.

Architectural Approach

The park’s buildings adopt a “disappearing wedges” design, ensuring minimal visual dominance while providing essential support for water playgrounds, including technical and storage facilities. Extensive use of wood materials enhances the park-like character, blending built structures with the natural landscape. The design strategy emphasizes low-volume architecture to maintain visual harmony, while still accommodating the functional needs of active recreation areas.

Playful and Inclusive Design

Attention to detail is evident throughout the park. Children’s accents, including colorful flooring and water toys, enrich the play areas without overwhelming the natural aesthetic. By maintaining a neutral backdrop of gray and white for structures, the colorful interactive elements become focal points, engaging young visitors while preserving overall design cohesion.
