A Design Rooted in the Landscape

Conceived as a celebration of the natural world, Villa Petricor was carefully designed around clusters of existing trees, preserving the native vegetation and enhancing the symbiosis between built and natural environments. The architectural orientation optimizes prevailing coastal breezes, while strategically placed windows frame verdant views and allow soft, dappled light to animate the polished interiors.

Arched openings throughout the villa create fluid transitions between interior and exterior spaces, offering a continuous experience of the surrounding tropical garden. Inside, an open-plan living area connects effortlessly with an outdoor pool, framed by large, handcrafted arched pivot windows that blur the boundaries between inside and out.

Craftsmanship and Materials: A Monolithic Serenity

The material palette of Villa Petricor reflects the rich textures and colors of Tulum’s landscape. Custom-polished cement walls and terrazzo floors are tinted with mineral pigments mixed directly on-site, giving rise to a sculptural, monolithic interior. Each surface, illuminated by natural light pouring in through four skylights, showcases the artistry of local craftsmen. The light, washing across textured surfaces, reveals a handcrafted imperfection that brings warmth and authenticity to the minimalistic design.

Built-in furniture pieces—including a platform bed, integrated benches, and tiered lounge spaces—emerge organically from floors and walls, reinforcing the sense of continuity. The vaulted arched ceilings further amplify the ethereal quality of the spaces, encouraging reflection and repose.

Tailored Furnishings and Custom Details

Every element within Villa Petricor is meticulously curated. The furnishings, many designed and fabricated by CO-LAB Design Office, include bespoke wooden chairs crafted in collaboration with local artisans and a dining table with a grooved cement support and a Santo Tomás marble top, processed entirely on-site. The same marble elegantly extends into the kitchen countertops and bathroom vanities, uniting spaces with understated sophistication.

Pivot windows are engineered with laminated stainless steel tubular frames, allowing large panels to swing open gracefully, inviting breezes and framing dynamic garden views.
